Never on my own round
Hi guys, worked for Royal Mail 10 years now and I finally have my own round I got about 3 months ago.Before I was a floater knowing about 10 rounds. Since I got this round I have been rarely on there and always on others. Is there anything I can do? The manager just said this is the way things are now. Has anyone been in this situation? Any advice would be helpful

Same at our office, people getting moved all over the place.
Your problem is that, especially as a previous floater, you know too much and although It could be seen as management actually being on the ball and getting walks covered by someone who knows them they need to respect the fact that you have signed for your own duty
Not sure if gospel but I heard that as a walk holder you should only be moved off your duty to cover a specialist duty that you have done before that requires prior knowledge or training eg rural. You should not be moved to cover any other normal duty that anyone could do (that's what reserves are for after all)
You could try a grievance but they will probably play the "Operational Needs" card which says they can do what they want with you.

If its only happening to you and no one else then you probably have good grounds for a grievance. Have you said anything??
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Eventually the cover and reserve staff will get trained on more walks so you don't have to be moved. The trouble is doing training costs money from the office budget and requires spare staff. Both of these are in short supply especially as we head towards the summer and RM start to make a song & dance about a possible drop in mail volumes.

Happened to a colleague of mine at my old DO, she got the union involved and they sorted it and they never moved her again. If your getting taken off your round which you have signed for too much which it sounds like you are, then management will have to back down and keep you on your own round.
