culture , lapsing ?

LAPSING needs to stop and the CULTURE will change , can you tell me if I am wrong but the 2 biggest issues within delivery offices are culture ( b&h ) and lapsing ( manageable workload ) , now the cwu said lapsing or whatever they call it would stop ? and the dims will change they ways ? , BUT can you explain why the cwu have agreed to a summer lapsing plan from june to September ? , saying mail drops off with made up bullshit r/m traffic figures , will d2ds drop off and will parcels drop and will there be no scanning etc over them months , as these 2 problems will lead to daily stress and arguements with members on not being able to do it . so is that left to the members to fight there corner and the office reps , I cant get my head round this , but f**k it we have a finish time .

I heard today that our dom wants to stop absorption as it is costing them too much

I can't believe the CWU would agree to this . The amount of B&H this causes in delivery offices in unreal .

We have had lapsing in our office for 2 years and only stops the last 2 weeks before Christmas.
Some do it others don't, its not called summer lapsing its called absorbtion

In our office the muppets will just start even earlier ( for free ) and run around ( no trolleys used ) even more to make it work

did your office have 4 dutys taken out and everybody get a loop 7 on there frames ? most people cant and don't touch them so lets change the name and use it as a national agreement , but it doesn't matter what they call it as its just another money saving scheme for r/m ,

In our office they pay 4 walk holders an hour and half overtime each to prep their own walks so everyone can lapse a 4 and a half hour walk. Reaaly don't see the point

As far as I know there is no nationwide agreement on lapsing, it's to be agreed on a local level by DOM and reps, they can try and force it but reps then go into disaagreement in what's caalled the IR Framework which ultimately can lead to localised industrial action unless agreement is reached.

I start in just over a week, say I go out and I haven’t delivered everything by my finish time A. What happens then and B. Do I get in sh*t for that?

Start time. Finish time.

Lapsing/ Absorption....to be done on light days, when you are finished before your time.

Is that not the deal?

Isn't lapsing supposed to give us all time off when we want it?

My stock reply now is 'yep, we'll take the lapsing, if you insist, but we'll probably be bringing it back if we have to do it in overtime'.

Yes you would get in the s**t.

You need to follow the over-running procedure, which involves a discussion with the manager BEFORE you leave the office.
