Somewhere at the back of my mind I believe you after having appeared for work and signed on and minutes later after informing your manager that you are going off sick will be counted as a part day absence and not recorded until you have received in writing that further part time absences will be recorded as a full days absence.
This is regardless of the amount of part time absences until you have received confirmation in writing that they from the date of the letter will be counted.
No doubt if my information is incorrect then someone will post a clarification.

TBT as it clearly doesn't state that there has to be a minimal attendance period before absence to count as a part day absence then attending for example 15 minutes would be recorded as a part day absence until interviewed by manager and the absentee has received in writing in advance that further part day absences will be counted.

Read the policy, there is no mention of having to work at least 2 hours before going part sick, get your rep on to it and if he still persists submit a grievance.

Part day absences and qualification for the Christmas bonus are probably the two things that managers openly lie about the most.
