9am Special

Yesterday while out on delivery i happened to notice while delivering a special that is was a 9am guarantee.
If i had got to the property at 1.30pm like i normally do would i have got it in the neck of the Dom for not getting there before 1pm ?

Yes. You'll probably get it in the neck if it didn't make the 9am deadline. However, when did you get it from the locker, whats the SOP for 9am in your office, when did the locker inform you of a 9am if they should warn you. All these questions will come up I think.

In our office, 9am specials are given to a dedicated van to make sure they get their on time.

No i left at 10, we also have duties that take the 9am specials so im thinking its either a mistake on the lockers part or they got to the building before it opened at 8am ( building with four firms in) nothing on the item though to say it had been attempted before.

Did you not notice it when sorting? They are quite distinctive. Regardless, doesn't sound like your fault. The only time when I handle them is when they've been scanned no access in the morning because they're sent out to firms who don't open till 9. In that instance they should come out the phg office with the rest of the specials. Is it possible the person doing the 9ams dumped it onto your fitting instead of handing it back into the phg office as they should've done? The system will them if it's been scanned or not.

I did have a similar situation once: a customer was complaining that the special (1pm) that I had should've been there by 9am. On close examination I noticed it was infact a 9am, but it'd been sent via the post office who had put the wrong sticker on it; they charged for a 9am but put the silver 1pm sticker on it so we'd obviously processed it as a 1pm. I took a picture if it and showed the gaffers when I got back and that was the end of it.

I've asked this question before and not received a clear answer (the reason for my question though is that I've delivered to postcodes
where the 9am deadline is not guaranteed (see postcodes below) but do we then have to get it there by 1pm - surely it's missed it's deadline
and whether it gets there by 1pm is irrelevant (although as a matter of principle I'd try to get it there ASAP)?

if only that were true.

yes if they are put in the correct cilver / red bag and have a red pre 9am delivery sticker on it. and put in a seperate green bag when the specials arive at the DO.

but a lot come through with just the same old generic black and white home / office printed sticker on them and are not put in green bags denoting that they are pre 9's.

although it should have still been picked up when the dun notes were scanned in, it can be a pain in the ass to try and find one pre 9 white stickered packet amounst 300+ specials or even more.

fault lies at the senders door, the mail centres door, the lockers door and indeed the posties door in reality.

we get told not the scan if we realise we've cocked up and it's too late.
i recently got sent out at 12-55 with 4 specials and were 5 miles apart, line manager said not to use pda and get them to sign an old epod card, they can then doctor them so not to fail, 3 of the 4 recipients wasn't bothered about them late anyway, the other got a 739 and i didn't put a time on the card.

Ah yes, the 'last resort' method. You have to hope/pray that the customer is not clued up about the time factor of the product you are delivering. And of course put the correct time down as 12.59!

or that one of the ones that will fail doesn't have an RFID tag in it
