I spoke to me area rep yesterday about the new deal. He told me the pension just had to be passed in parliament and the shorter working week had been agreed.......The only sticking point was pay,CWU want three percent inline with inflation and backdated pay,RM want two percent and a lump sum. If we get the CWU pay deal along with everthing else that's been agreed,personally I think that's a pretty good result....

It's going to be interesting to see how RM and the CWU see the shorter working week gets implimented in MCs. It's not got a hope in hell of working. My guess is that it'll end up either being 4hrs compulsory ot per week for full timers or DOs will get their work later (and less mech mail sequenced)

it will be even funnier to see how that works in delivery , o/t is not compulsory its voluntary and always will be , what about start and finish times for delivery ? any ideas.

the union agree the deal then we vote whether to accept or reject it.

It won't be that easy to get that kind of pension legislation passed in government.

Plus most Postie's and probably most MC staff will not want later start and finish times especially if it is an hour or more later. The CWU and RM think they buy us off. Hopefully that doesn't happen again.

The trouble is if somehow this deal if it is a deal is accepted then the RM workplace will be terrible for the poor postie. Bullying and harassment is rife by RM managers now,what will it be like when and if the shorter working week comes in as in no way will they take any delivery points off rounds.I can hear it now "you voted it in you get on and do it and if you cant well you are not up to the job" then there is more ammunition when the posties get a pay rise,oh I am so glad I got out!
This bullying and harressment by RM managers has got to stop people can only take so much and one day the s**t will hit the fan and I wouldnt want to be in their shoes when it does. What goes around comes around,it aways does

Well if walks are having to cut off now, it'll be either RM take bits off walks or th walks cut off even more (or cut off if they don't already)
