RM frequently do ''preference exercises'' to assess the level of interest... the chances of actually getting it are extremely slim, staffing levels are already cut to the bone, especially in delivery, I'm sure RM could achieve any further reductions just through ''natural wastage'' rather than any large scale EVR.

Thanks wacko just wondered,you never know what they have in store,after 36 years am getting tired of the rat race with lapsing etc,am 56 and it seems a gutty slog at times but still love my round,just get a tad annoyed when boss says maybe this isn't the job for you anymore......

What a horrible, degrading thing to say. I've always been of the opinion if you can last at least a full year, then on the whole, you're able to do this job. There's a natural degree of fitness required in our job, which you are conditioned into purely by doing the job. Wear and tear aside, if you look after yourself and follow H&S/delivery standards dogmatically, then you should be fine. Managers should show some respect, and not speak to people like that. We would never say it to them when they end up out on the street because the mail is failing, and if someone did, they would then be a target. Pathetic bullies.

Yep it sure does,yesvam getting slower,but not bothered,am happy to wind down and chat to my customers etc,just hang on and see what happens,they may well have plans for our office,who knows,even enquired about job sharing with my mate,but bosscjustvstares blank faced at us,

No wonder you get annoyed with being spoken to like that after all those years service,its appalling.I had similar treatment I was asked when was I leaving as they had new younger people starting,my service was no where near as long as yours but it was 19 years.
In the end I had had enough and walked away,best decision ever.

Yes it's boring now,you just seem to have to be on board with how things are going,I think in the current climate you have to be in a certain mind set to want to be a manager,are they like storm troopers being briefed by so called top management and sent back to their units to impose the culture of fear,can't be a nice job if your a descent person,and come up through the ranks and know what it's like,a visit to the office wouldn't go a miss,just to ask how things are,they haven't a clue how things operate on a daily basis,

Years ago we used to get the area manager walk up and down the aisles every couple of weeks or so,always spoke and if you wanted to ask about anything he would stop and talk. You felt valued.Would they do it now,no way,they wouldnt even entertain it,they wouldnt even look at you never mind speak.They just looked down their noses at you. What an example!! Just because they have a high powered job they think they can treat the posties like muck,I wonder how many could could do a posties job day in day day out in all weathers.Not many if any.

Well I still work for these clowns but having seen everything you say like the Area Director and his tarts running round him like fly's round s**t just to keep a job. No wonder all the managers don't rock the boat and keep a tight lid on everything it would not luck good to be back on delivery with f**k all talking to you would it as your boss says!

If you do get offered EVR of or VR, how long do you think the current terms will be on offer for?

God knows,just sitting tight at the mo,me and a pal keen on job sharing,week on week off,not sure how that can be achieved ??

Another way to job share would be to do 3 days a week each.
You would work monday tues wed,then thursday fri sat the following week on alternate weeks with your mate.
