Hi, when an office does a re-sign for part-time duties, and there are different duties on different numbers of hours, is it possible for someone to choose a duty that has a greater number of hours than the duty they were previously on?

E.g. if they were on a 1 day a week job, could they sign for a 2 day a week job?

In our office yes, a part timer signed for a crappy fulltime duty just so he was made full time, obviously normal seniority rules applied but no one else wanted it.

Yes - as long as it doesn't cost more hours in the work plan. What that means is anyone who is already on those hours will be considered first (in seniority order) so that you haven't got someone with a 39-hour contract covering a 25 Hour duty. Also, it can work the other way, a 39 Hour senior man can apply for a lower contract duty, but if its voluntary there is no compensation, his seniority won't change.
