Our manager has informed us that RM are looking at getting clock-in machines , has anyone else heard anything about this ?

Yes it is true as to whether you do any work in the place managers can relax now as they always do!

well its obvious really. they won't pay you overtime if its all done in your duty time (ghost blue, as we call it). unless of course a manager sanctions it. but i'm sure he will be questioned from his gaffers if he does. I would imagine it will stop all ghost overtime.

No. As part of the pay negotiations, Royal Mail have put on the table using PDAs to log in and out when you are doing and when you have completed various tasks.

how would that work in deliverys with pdas ? clocking in and out of the units was mentioned as well . (start and finish times)

Royal Mail are stupid but don't think they that stupid no one would come in early and work for free and also nobody would do overtime at all and if they do introduce clocking in machines or pda style clocking in/out managers would fix it so we get paid the same rate overtime as we do now as like I said nobody in the right mind would do overtime, I'm a reserve manager and I'd be sorting it so that walks get covered, then on the postman side of me I wouldn't be doing overtime no more if not paid to make it worth my while so to speak, so id put my house on it the DOM will make it to suit so to speak

This is why it will be clocked on PDA instead of clocking in machine so they will still get the free hours of the idiots in the morning and still be able to work around covering the walks
