Finding out if a redirection has been set up in another office

Family trouble job- Basically,Is there anyway I can find out if a re-di has been set up in a family members name in an office in another town,a long way from mine?
I don't need to know to what address it is going to (if it has).I'd have a good idea anyway,Spose I could just ring the office in question and hope a friendly native would help me out

Couldn't you send a letter to the old address with 'DO NOT REDIRECT" written on it.
Then if there is a redirection you'll get it back with a copy of the redirection address on the back?

I’ve never heard of putting a redirection label on the back of these letters - it seems totally bizarre to me.
If it says do not redirect, then you either deliver it or endorse it accordingly, depending on which applies.
If it gets returned to sender it’s then up to them to find out where the recipients are now living, it’s not up to RM to tell them.

Some letters with green outers say "do not redirect" and on the back it says if not at this address please complete new address details. We should NOT be completing these due to date protection. They should just be killed off and rts

Sometimes you get an instruction to ignore the Do Not Redirect. This is usually when someone else has power of attorney, either following a death or due to incapacity.

Sometimes they send test letters. The chevrons are a slightly different green and the return address is somewhere in central England.

If you send a letter and write Do Not Redirect on it the postie should ignore your instruction because you haven't paid not to have it redirected.

If you put the new address on the back there is a stong possibility this Do Not Redirect actually does get redirected. In turn if there is a fraud going on you are helping it continue.

I defy anyone to know all Royalmail procedures. I have worked in two different callers offices in the same sector and both do something's differently. Somewhere there must be someone in our organisation who knows what we should all be doing but i won't hold my breath

Yes, housing benefit and very definitely also local authority Council Tax bills.
Someone's moved, done 'a runner' owing loads of Council Tax, and a copy of the new address, the redirection sticker, should be attached to the letter and sent to the return address so that the council knows where they have moved to and has a good chance of getting their money.
Such local authority letters with the green chevrons are though also used for other correspondence including notification of nearby planning applications.
