Office resign
Office resign has started in our office, management have picked what jobs to go part time. Meaning some senior men cant sign for them, one lad with 20 years service job made pt lost it to someone with 8 years service. Don't seem fair to me

I presume your friend lost his "Old" Duty? Normally you'll have a list of FT Duties which are selected on seniority (by FT Posties), and you'll have a list of PT Duties which are likewise selected on seniority (by PT Posties).

The only difference between ft and pt duties is the indoor work. Anybody should be able to sign for any walk based on seniority alone. Why has your union rep agreed to this?
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Always makes me laugh when someone assumes that just because it's true in their DO it's true in others.Judgee wrote:The only difference between ft and pt duties is the indoor work

The duties that were FT and have been reduced to PT where has the reduced hours content gone? If that content part has been moved to a different duty then this is a matter for your union rep to explore within the IR framework also the proportion of FT duties to PT duties.martyswan wrote:Office resign has started in our office, management have picked what jobs to go part time. Its different in mine Judgee. We have PT and FT deliveries, with the PT split between 20/25/30. The duties decide the hours not the contract if you see what I mean.Judgee wrote:Ok so how is it different in yours then would love to know?t3mcIUQWE2 wrote:Always makes me laugh when someone assumes that just because it's true in their DO it's true in others.Judgee wrote:The only difference between ft and pt duties is the indoor work
But then we are a unique office, we still aren't completely in Vans (only about 25%), split over 3 floors with only 1 lift and a small car park that can barely handle 25 vans never mind the 150+ we need to go CDV.

Some, the 30 hour ones do that same as FT except IPS, the 25s have their duties part prepped and the 20s fully prepped except for packets - Thats the singleton deliveries (75% of the office)Judgee wrote:Do your part timers do indoor work TBT?
The Paired ones do no indoor work, except for the 30s who finish prep of both duties with the partners. The lesser hours are just outdoor.

That was my original point TBT. The IPS is part of the indoor work that is the difference between full time and part time! Walks should be the same size and the varying amount of prep/IPS is what makes a duty full or part time. Therefore everyone should be able to sign for any walk and the management adjust the amount of indoor work attached to fit around their hours! Therefore there should be no need to have separate ft/pt signings!TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Some, the 30 hour ones do that same as FT except IPS, the 25s have their duties part prepped and the 20s fully prepped except for packets - Thats the singleton deliveries (75% of the office)Judgee wrote:Do your part timers do indoor work TBT?

PT duties are 48 hours per week, FT 46 hours 48 minutes. PT duties are PT paired. FT duties are FT paired with PT covering days off. All duties prep their walk. Some FT duties do IPS and thus have up to 2 hours less per day walk time.Judgee wrote:Ok so how is it different in yours then would love to know?t3mcIUQWE2 wrote:Always makes me laugh when someone assumes that just because it's true in their DO it's true in others.Judgee wrote:The only difference between ft and pt duties is the indoor work

Because that is all good in theory but it doesn't work in practice.Judgee wrote:That was my original point TBT. We have full timers prepping their own walk and a part time walk. Yet a full timer will be out of the door well before the part timer because they put more effort into their own walk.
For example I work with a part timer. Yet there's 2 full timers working together down the aisle from me. One preps two walks. The other preps a separate 2 walks (one is FT and one is PT) both HTC duties.
The full timer prepping the other two walks is constantly doing little bits to help his own cause and then neglects his PT walk he should be prepping. So him and his partner are out the door while the PT is still doing redirections or packets or D2D.
This isn't a one off too. It's rife. So it makes sense to pair up PT and FT duties.
It's not like years ago when we all started at the same time.

Its only not fair if the senior men arent allowed to move to PT contracts to sign for the duty.martyswan wrote:Office resign has started in our office, management have picked what jobs to go part time. Rep seems very very anti this though. I am looking to sign for a duty that's stated as 33 hrs, now the 'problem' is I am 36 hrs so I was told I'd have to drop 3 hrs in order to go for it.
It seems wrong to me as currently I prep two walks on the duty I'm currently on which is a 33hr duty
Lad who's walk I prep is not happy to lose me!
