Yes, absolutely. You carry on as if you had been working and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Sickness doesn't change your holidays, rota weeks and entitlement thereof.Hammer59 wrote:just been off for 2 months after shoulder injury, my wally week is the second week after I return am I still entitled to this?

Are you sure about that? Somebody in our office who had been off long term had to work part of his Waddington as he hadn't built up the hours to have the full 6 days.bustedflush wrote:Yes, absolutely. Exactly what is a 'Wally' / 'Wallington' week?

work 6 days a week off and get week off on the 6th week with 6th day work paying for Wallington week off. But downside is working 48 hours every week apart from 6th week. Upside is week off and you can go on holiday every 6 weeks if you can afford to do it ;)

Fair enough, it sounds OK but I never had it happen. I must've been lucky...

Don't know much about waddington week. But that does not sound right to me. If you are off sick during your scheduled rota you should not lose your days off.
That's like having a normal Saturday off but being sick tue-wed-Thursday and the dom saying you now lost your Saturday rest day upon return..
You wouldn't lose a day off for being sick on a normal rota. You shouldn't on any other rota either.

Thinking about it it does sound right. You work 5 Saturdays to get 6th. week off. Sick weeks are 5 days, so technically if you had 5 weeks sick you would have had 6 weeks' hours off if on Wally week so would lose it all. Like I said never saw it enforced though.

You should keep your duty and by extension your week out, it just means that when you cease to operate under a wallington system, or leave the unit/ company the number of days you owe or are owed through working 6 days will alter. No different to when the system is first introduced to a unit, someone will be 'off' week 1 and won't have accrued any days to pay for it, only those with week 6 off in your rotation have actually paid for the week off in advance, everyone else is in areers.
Another point to consider is when you went sick, at what point in your rotation was it? You may be in a position where you have accrued more days than you have taken, ie you went sick on week 5 and came back in week 3 of your rotation they would then have to add days to your 'bank'

Why would a sick week be 5 days if you are scheduled to work six days? Are you suggesting you cannot be sick for the sixth day. You are sick for every day you are off work including rest days according to the stage attendance procedure. So I don't see the reason for losing any of your week off. I would sought advice if this has been happening to any of you.

You really don't have a clue what you are talking about do you?. Whilst you are effectively scheduled to work 6 days 1 of those days is banked to give the entitlement to a week off, it is effectively o/t without o/t pay rate. You only get paid 40 hrs but work 48! however if you were to go sick on your week six ie your week out, then you have effectively gone sick through your holiday and would be entitled to that week crediting back, and when you book a holiday you only book 5 days. (though on psp if the manager is doing it correctly when you book an actual holiday it will cost you 48 hours from your al because you will be credited 8hrs towards your scheduled week off during that holiday)

Re: wally week
Your wally week is simply your entitlement to days off from a 6 week period being given in a block together. If a bank holiday falls on a scheduled day off then you are entitled to get that time back, so of course this applies to wally weeks.
