delivery mistakes and coaching
dont know if this has been agreed nationally but this is happening all over west of scotland
any complaint from customer on delivery leads to coaching session from work place coach to improve or help elimanate complaints
d2d prep if caught nesting session with wpc
misdelivery any mistake reported session from wpc
pda failure again session from wpc
tracked item not scanned at doorstep session with wpc
the list is not endless
any mistake or irregularity one has caused on delivery is being questioned by mgmt who then pass on procedure to wpc to investigate and HELP us sort out problems
all coaching sessions are stated to be just that a coaching session BUT
all sessions are recorded on paper file, question and answer style interrogation
all forms are to be signed and filed
too many can lead to councelling
all forms being retained
has this been agreed nationally by cwu
i have 3-5 complaints or incidents
ranging from pda failure to tracked doorstep scan
im going to ask for copies to send to hq
as i can see instances of harassment bullying intimidation coming from this
mgmt say its to improve performance and standards etc i have my doubts

Same happening in my office at the moment. Each staff member has a folder dedicated to them. Sounds like management building up case for dismissal should they ever choose to do so.hans solo wrote:dont know if this has been agreed nationally but this is happening all over west of scotland

The same s**t is being foisted upon us by the folder fondling worms at our office. We were told that three complaints against you will lead to the conduct code being applied.

In my experience the only ones ever coached are the people that claim o.time or cut off. Strange how the runners who mis-sort or mis-deliver on daily basis never seem to get pulled up.

Do not sign anything, just refuse. They will view your signature as acceptance.

As the other poster says, is there any National Agreement regarding the 3 c's? If not, how should people deal with them? I'm guessing that from the Business' point of view, it doesn't matter whether you sign the form or not, they will deem the coaching/counselling as being given. If 3c's are legit, surely there must still be some time scales involved after which you go back to the start of the process, as with the Attendance Agreement?
With regards to supposed Tracked failures, it seems to me that the business haven't got a leg to stand on unless they start getting people to sign for them, and so prove they've actually had them in their possession.

The point of not signing anything is if the business did actually sack someone of this, your signature could be interpreted as acceptance. Therefore making your defence much harder should you decide to go to a tribunal. Agreed the business may well look upon it that you have been given warnings etc, and still put them on your file. However it would be up to the tribunal to decide if any sacking was fair. Some managers seem to make the rules up as they would like to see them, their appears to be no agreement with the CWU over this.

A newbie at my office was being given grief by a LM for a misdelivery until another postie stepped in and said to the LM 'How can you have a go at him for a single misdelivery when you delivered a whole street wrong last week'
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I've noticed this lately too. WPC came to me on Friday saying there'd been two complaints from a house where people have just moved in saying they've been receiving mail not for them. Now I know for a fact that I've been redirecting the previous occupants mail, they were parcel fiends so I was happy to see the back of them. I think it's more likely that it's a gone away or just some random misaddressed mail they've been getting. These people do realise we work for Royal Mail right, and not the general census??
But silly and pointless complaints aside, what really annoyed me is that I'd only actually been on that duty two days that week. I told the WPC coach this and he says "oh well, you're the one on it today so you have to deal with it"

As far as I know nesting D2Ds is ok bar election material. As for scanned as long as its been scanned at the door there is nothing to be coached about. We all miss deliver now and again but no way should you admit or sign anything as there is no proof you were the one who made the mistake other firms deliver mail as well as us.

Officially its a No No.cpsteve wrote:As far as I know nesting D2Ds is ok bar election material. .
Unofficially the manager wants them delivered so most put their blinkers on.
For posties, knowing the manager won't offer his arse when your is hung out to dry, do what you think is best.

statement from Royal Mail said: “We are very sorry that the customer has had a problem with our Door to Door service. As soon as we were made aware of this issue, staff were reminded of our Door to Door guidelines.”
In an email to council official Jason Moon, the firm says that disciplinary action will be taken if postmen or women ignore the instructions to separate out such items.
It says: “The act of placing Door to Door leaflets inside larger items is known as nesting and I can assure you that Royal Mail actively discourages this practice. It is easy to see why delivery staff do this, as bundling the Door to Door items that they have each week together makes it much easier for them to deliver to the various addresses on their walks.
“We do however appreciate that this can lessen the impact of each mailing and can easily lead to issues, where it could be taken to imply some sort of link between the companies, which may cause embarrassment. As such, if we are made aware of this problem happening, we can ensure that the relevant delivery office managers are contacted and thereby ensure that their staff are spoken to and made fully aware that this must not be done again.”

We've been moaned at for nesting plenty of times before as well, although I've never actually done it. Is it customers who complain about nesting? Personally I find it slightly hard to believe that there's a significant amount of people out there who feel the need to phone up with "there's a junk mail leaflet inside this other junk mail leaflet"

But I guess the point is that the customers are the companies paying for us to deliver the d2dr's not the people behind the letterbox
