Wage Rise 2017

I know April seems quite far off but I for one am sick of getting my wage increase in July so I was wondering how the wage negotiations are coming along for 2017? We are now approaching our busiest period which can be used as our bargaining tool. I've heard about the "one wave" scheme but only gossip, nothing official. Are the CWU and RM around the table yet and if so, whats been agreed and whats been dismissed. Any news would be greatly accepted.

Uncertainty caused by impending Brexit
Deficit in the RM pension fund
Increased competition within the UK parcel market
Falling number of letters
Increased costs
Poor Christmas letter volumes
Falling value of the pound makes elastic bands more expensive
Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton being US President

Only part timers getting a pay rise, everyone over 35 hours will be getting a cut in hours. Next pay rise will be 2020.

we were told to accept this years piss poor rise on the understanding the union would have a whole year to negotiate next years (and possibly a further 2 yrs) and therefore be able to get a much better (groundbreaking) deal for us when its due in 2017. so they've been talking since april. obviously since they will have had a year of talks by the time april comes round, the rise will be ''phenomenly good''.

That is not correct the union aspiration and policy is to achieve the 35 hour gross working week for all full time staff with no loss of pay so your hourly rate simply goes up as your pay is than divided by 35 hours for your hourly rate rather than 39.

Part timers will get an increase in their hourly rate.

Intial talks have taken place over more intensive talks over next years pay and major deal which will include changes to the delivery window , processing window , the aim of the business is move the operation forward by two or three hours meaning later starts so that they can capture more of the parcel market based on next day parcel delivery if ordered up too midnight.

They do want to run some trials based on a range of things including data capture in offices which records start and finish times , how long it takes you on the IPS , Prep , Outdoors over every day and they would like it to be used as a resourcing tool. They want to use it in Mail centres and RDCs as well.

Obviously they want later starts to support more automation and reduce indoor work. They want to improve efficiency.

Equally the Pension announcement is close to close the DB scheme.

The CWU have policies which were carried at this years ploicy forum as well.

We all know what happens when there is a big deal like the Way Forward , Pay and Mod or BT2010 there is likely to be a period of industrial unrest ! So pay 2017 is just one of the things in the mix ! There is no point in accepting a 2% or 3% pay rise of Royal Mail closed the DB scheme and transfer to the DC scheme with an employer limit of 10% contributions as you will have a 7% cut in your pay package straight away as they have been paying 17%.

35 hour week? 39 hour week? Mine is 60.5 hour week so I'm in for a hell of a pay rise !!!!
