Pre-sorted flats

Does every office have these? (3 different walks flat letters sorted into a tray.) If so where and who sorts them?

I'm on a duty that does no IPS (I have other tasks instead) yet I'm expected to sort through and separate these trays!!

Never come across pre-sorted flats like you've described out our way in the sticks. There are usually missorts for at least that many walks in every box that comes off the IPS tho. Sounds like you're getting rubbish IPS to me. Do they come like that from the MC?

They come like that (sorted into boxes of 3 walks, the same 3 walks everyday) from the mail centre. Assuming there must be a flat sorting machine there.....

We get what they call buddy boxes. 2 walks mixed together in 1 box (The walks paired together), a mixture of flats and letters, but only about a third of walks in our office get them. We normally do one of the pair throwing the walks off and one on ips so it's the one throwing the walks off that will handle the buddy box but obviously that wouldn't work if you're getting 3 walks in 1 box.

Yep we have them, known as buddy boxes but each box that used to cover 3 walks has now been increased to 4 walks. They get sorted by the persons prepping the walks that the box covers.

We have buddy boxes for every duty in my unit. Shared van duties have their 2 walks in a box and 2 HCT duties have a buddy box between them. Had them for years.

Bypassing IPS at the DO? This is standard procedure at every site with a FSM - the largest DOs get a significant pre-sort breakdown.

If your DO were to get 20 full yorks of flats a day how long to get them all sorted? Walk sorted boxes mean the majority of it is only a matter of segging labelled trays to the appropriate frames.
