Driving ban, losing job?

As a postman with the job title of "postman with driving" who is potentially going to loose their licence within the next 3/4 months am I at risk of losing my job?

Your job title is " postman with driving" but what does your contract of employment state? That maybe a glimmer of hope but on your job title and advertised as such then as you are now unable to fulfil your job then you are at risk of losing your job.

I imagine that this is all up to the discretion of the dom so it might be an idea to buy a big tub of vaseline and bend over

I've known people who do firms drives loose their licence, they just put them on non driving duties, it shouldn't be up to your DOM, it should be consistent across the business.

I know a postie that was banned for being over the limit , he was put on town walks until his ban ended.

We've had 2 at our place,just got moved on to the walker part of the park and loop,worked out well for them actually.

Spend a little more and get a good Lawyer, and hopefully keep your driving licence. £4k for a lawyer is better than loosing your job.

Yes. I echo the previous comments. Same thing happened to a couple here over the years. No big deal. Just on non driving duties until able to drive again. They were kind of humiliated I suppose by losing their round temporarily but that was the only comeuppance.

Having said that, it has only happened to long-serving posties who are apparently quite hard to fire. It may well be a different story for someone on a temporary contract or in their trial period.

as said above,
i think every postal job advertised includes "with driving" and as been for a few years now, those who were employed before that didn't need a license so it'd be hard to dismiss the latter unless it was whilst in a rm van,
i'd speak to your dom asap if you know you're going to lose it, at least you can prepare yourself either way

I know a manager who lost his licence he was a float,going from one office to another to cover. The company would run him about at their expense. Not sure Postie's get same level of care and consideration
