Are all managers like this

Had an shoulder op a month ago, consultant gave me note for 8 weeks saying not lifting for minimum of 8 wks and up to physio when i was to return, not even 2 weeks after the op, boss on phone asking if id return on light duites told him no, now 2 weeks later iv had occu health review and they say im not fit for work and to have another review in 3 weeks, boss on the phone again wanting me down for meeting to discuss report and discuss capibilites and possible return before the next occu health review. why on earth would i want to return against my docs and occu healths advice,

iv had bother with me shoulder for the last 2 year and have finally started seeing the light as it where, why would any manger want to jeperdise work done on an operation by ignoring advice given to him by medically trained people is beyond me,

I have come to realise in the 30 plus years of doing the job, all managers are more medically qualified than any Doctor or consultant. They only have your best interests at heart.

If I was in your shoes I'd have done the following,

- agreed to the meeting. Explained due to the injury you weren't prepared to drive so other transport would need to be provided.

- sat down with the manager, explained that occ health and GP recommend no lifting for the next 8 weeks and until your manager can pull out a medical certificate you are to follow that advice.

How true. What they are ignoring is that the Consultant has issued a "fit note",which gives the things you can do,rather than just a blanket sick note. No wonder GP's hate Royal Mail.

Stick to your guns, your scumbag supposed superior doesn't give a flying f**k about the long term health ramifications of you going back to work earlier than prescribed by your doc. Invite him to come round to your house to discuss the situation, then watch the blatantly underemployed b%^&^$d recoil and shrivel from the proposition like a slug that's been doused in salt. Managerial C***ts.

it is one of the KPI's managers have and therefore linked to possible bonus payments for them.

So the quicker you resume work the less damage you do to the DSM's bonus payments.

Stay of sick until fully recovered would be my advice.
