Previous Service Holiday Entitlement

I originally worked for RM between 1985 and 1988 (may have been slightly longer, can't remember)

I recently read that previous service counts towards your holiday entitlement under the Way Forward agreement.
Having started my latest stint with RM 12 years ago, that would now put me on 15 years service and the relevant holiday entitlement.

Question is i should have been entitled to 5 years entitlement after 2 years of my recent stint - so will i get those 3 days back in some form?

Also i don't have any records of my original service from '85-88 and can only remember the office i worked at and my old badge number.
Will HR have any record of that original service or am i likely to hit a brick wall here and just have to accept that as there are no records i won't get the full 15 year entitlement until i have done another 3 years?

Lastly can anyone think of anything else that may arise form this that i may have missed?

You would need to prove you previously worked for RM. (Old payslips etc)
I don't think they have paper records going back that far.

Don't remember getting a payslip back then. Sure it was just written on the outside of the small brown envelope that contained the cash. Defo don't have any.

HR 'should' have details, NR number, pension contributions and all that malarkey surely.

I recently done this. I phoned HR but to be honest they were'nt that interested. I emailed my DOM with the info and he got onto HR and it was done within a couple of days. I was purchasing extra leave so got quite a bit of money back because my leave entitlement went up with 15 years service. I had no proof of my previous service either so it was done by them searching through your RM pension records.

Are you being serious. So if you had x number of years service and resigned say 10 years ago and rejoined your previous service would count to your leave entitlement ? Would love a link to this.
What about seniority ? Can you come back and get a decent delivery ?

Can't get your seniority back unfortunately.

If you do a search on this site there is a few threads about previous service entitlement.

Stormproof - Glad to hear it can actually be done.
I rang HR yesterday and all they could do was to suggest my DOM email Attendance Management team.
I rang pensions today and they said they have absolutely no record of my previous employment as i was employed for less than 5 years - that meant i hadn't qualified for a pension apparently.
All i can remember about my pension was that i cashed it out when i left.

Would you have any idea who your DOM spoke to?

It was dealt with by the HRSC Attendance Management Team at Sheffield. They contacted Pensions aswell. I'm sure they would have a record of you somewhere.

Had 2 people do this is my office - person number 1 had wage slips going back to year dot from their previous employment with us ( around 20 years ago)and it was relatively straightforward and both terms of employment were used for their a/l

Person 2 did not have anything and jumped through hoops for months trying pensions, HR and everything else they could think ( even the tax office) net result they could not provide proof so it their previous service was not included in their current a/l quota

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but unless you have something that can show your previous employment it might not be the outcome you are looking for

Just say your previous service entitled you to 6 weeks a/l, and youve been in 5 years recently, would you be entitled to get 2 weeks per year x 5 years back ? 10 weeks extra leave would be good (even a payment for untaken backdated pay would be good). Any thoughts on this ?
