Lapsing...managers...desperate!!

Does this sound like your office?

Busy day for packets, 4 lots of door to doors and mail. If we were late before (due to the decreasing numbers of walk sorters) a late van then arrives before we can tie-up and the managers want the work sorting before we can leave. Understandable; but this puts us nearly an hour late on leaving the office. Hands up who wants to work till 4 or 5pm?? No, thought not…. At least a dozen chaps wanted their lapsing taken off plus some other loops on their frames as well. The reason is simple, we don't really want to work 2 or 3 hours past our time. It is not mandatory.

And its chaos, managers behave like frightened rabbits and don't know where to turn. Are there are any volunteers for overtime today? Nope, because we are all busy. Even those that have taken the additional work with them in the van have agreed to bring some of it back when they have finished their delivery. Now does that sound a bit mad?? So what about ringing people up on their days off? Nope, because they are actually working their day off today! Have you ever seen a place so chaotic and unorganised. And it wasn't a freak day today - because the same thing happened yesterday!

But its all part of the plan! Don't you see? Managers are now being forced to help us by taking out our deliveries and it helps Royal Mail to save costs. I do hope they were using the trolleys provided and file away those dreadful customer complaints...

I hope not as they are meant to be on an Overtime Ban and working to rule, so they shouldn't be doing any OPG work. Basically your managers are undermining their own Industrial Action.

What happened to Sue Whalley's much vaunted getting managers off delivery? They are always on delivery,prepping walks,etc. If they did less of our work,we would need fewer of them.

That only works if your managers are in a union and as we know managers only think of themselves - so most are nt in a union as they think they are perfect and need no help from anyone else.

If managers are as worried as you say, they may not be reporting the failures correctly, under reporting or not reporting at all, if you have any suspicion that is happening I would maybe suggest emailing moya anonymously to advise of your suspicions

Fu ck me, our manages wont go on a walk !, come thier finish time they are gone, ant yet they expect us to work over our time for nothing.

What industrial action?? I think our managers are too busy looking after themselves as usual. I don't mind managers doing deliveries - although its not helping some of us getting the dreading lapsing took off us!!

As for mailings being down, well, we all know that someone is telling us porkies. And anyway for us, with fewer staff to deliver and lapsing on a daily basis means that the mailing for us to deliver is more than it ever was.

Talk about making the unmanageable manageable!

So managers are working to rule ? , I might have to remind mine then that he shouldn't be clearing off at 11 am every Saturday. Its ironic im told to work every second of my time by him yet he makes 3 hours each Saturday
