max parcel weight 30kg ???

Hi , we deliver Parcel-force parcels in our office as part of our duties , I`m covering a duty where one call is constantly getting numerous parcels up to 30kg , Ive been told that we have to deliver up to 30kg but a search on the forum seems to say 20kg max , I don`t have a problem lifting them but don`t want to be injuring myself and then have the dom telling me I shouldn`t of be lifting them so can anyone confirm either way ? Ask for that in writing. If they are right then they won't have any trouble proving it.
If they can't, ask Moya.
I wouldn't be delivering that weight on my own.

Your right 20 kg is the max weight for a parcel anything over is a 2 man lift or sack trucks

I could take a sack truck but can drive right up to the front door of the property so its just a question of lifting off the van then straight into the porch , its not a big problem really but was just looking for confirmation that 30kg is the max weight for lifting ,just incase I put my back out getting it out of the van.

our office does pare force as well, we had this exact issue, Parcelforce in our area send put larger it's with another courier and smaller stuff with us (we have no transits so can't handle anything longer than 2m etc) a while back they started pushing the heavier stuff on to us as well,

the solution is to simply ask to see the safe system of work concerning the weight of parcels when lifting, max on there is 20kg for a one man lift, then simply say you need someone to come put in van with you to deliver the item, this resolved the problem in our area very quickly as all the farms were getting some sort of feed in 25kg bags so all 12 of our rural would have had to have 2 men in them to deliver according to ssow ot bill was going to be huge

Excactley, having a 30kg limit using a trolley doesn`t help ,like you say you`ve still got to lift it up and put it down and if your going to put your back out then its going to be when lifting or lowering not the actual carrying.

At my indoctrination last year was told that I would get Manual Handling Training as soon as I got to my office, then
refresher training every 18 months

did not find the ssow on here but this LTB shoild be exactly all that is needed if the dom won't produce the ssow

Weight limit: 30kg
Large parcels can only be sent via Parcelforce.
