Door-to-door is an increasingly important product for Royal Mail. It’s essential these items are prepared and delivered to the correct specification.

If door-to-door items are nested one inside another, they are less visible. This means there is a risk of reduced response rates.

Follow these simple steps to ensure you deliver these items to the correct specification.

D2D preparation

Prepare all door-to-door items one on top of the other. Do not put one item inside another. This is known as ‘nesting’
Place the items individually into the delivery fitting or frame.

D2D delivery

Deliver all door-to-door items one on top of the other
When they land on the doormat, they will appear as separate, individual items which are far more visible to the customer.

We've been bollocked about this before. I've personally never nested d2d and I don't understand why people would, it doesn't make your job any easier, but there are plenty in my office who do it week on week

We are told by management to nest our d2d, in fact we are told if we are finished early any day to spend the spare time 'nesting' our d2d for the week.

Really? Then your management are fools.

We had the WTLL two weeks ago , when this was highlighted. Too many people still do it ; and management still ignore.

Personally , never 'nested'

Mind you ; at same WTLL were told that 'Ghost overtime' was banned.

Low and behold. Ghost OT on Monday to cover a walk .... One does despair

Well….its far easier NOT to nest when there are only 1 or 2 lots of D2Ds!!

We wouldn't have this problem of 'nesting' then would we?

I read that RM are testing a machine that will bundle up the D2D and put the items into an envelope so we deliver 1 item no matter how many we have. This is to save the prep time for D2D. Surely that is nesting?

Beg to differ, nesting makes it much easier. Also just give them a good shove through the door and they will all fall out anyway.

I think the key point here is the word "prepare" and seeing in our Office we are not given a fraction of the time we need to prep d2d then its going to be a case of prepping them up being late out and having to cut off.

Answers on a used Kleenex to the usual address...

When you collate them you do it in the same order.
Therefore you only have to look for the last one, (the biggest one) which you have put at the back.
It really isn't very difficult.
