25 hour contract working 68 hours a week ..

Hello, Ive been working at Royal Mail now for 2 & a half years .. always been on a 25 hour contract .. for the past 8 months I've been working 68 hours a week every week, I've been trying to get a 30 hour contract for the past months now, but seem to be having no luck, Do they have a leg to stand on or .. ? Thanks.

If you will work 68 hours a week on a 25 hour contract

then they're not likely to change your 25 hour contract.

It does depend on 'how' you are working the extra hours but have a look here...

2.7.7 The level of part time Employees’ contracted hours will be reviewed by the Employer and the CWU locally on a six monthly basis. Where appropriate,
increased contracted hours will be offered to reflect the hours actually worked and planned.

Just be aware if extra hours are agreed to be put into the office they would go to the most senior part timer wanting them not necessarily the person currently working them

1. Depends on seniority. If a part timer has been there longer than you, then he should get more hours on his contract before you.

2. Why would the manager lose money by making up contracts when people are willing to work 68 hrs a week? If no overtime was worked he'd HAVE to increase contracts
to get the work done.

No the trend nowadays is employ more 20 hr PTers. And hope they chase the docket.

On the subject of 20 or 25 hour contracts, if you are on one but do more can you just work the contracted hours?
