Did anyone else have a 'mad tuesday'? plus 8 D2D's

Tuesday is a late start for many because it's considered a quieter day than the rest of the week. This tuesday was mad. Not only have we got a whopping 8 households to prep which takes around 25 minutes to prep per duty (of around 130 d2ds per day) but we were absolutely innialated with about 70 heavy hardback "50 plus" catologues,some of which do not go through the letterbox of which you have to leave a p739 notice but we also had a lot of virgin media crap, call rate was massive and because of our typical tuesday later start we didn't leave the office for delivery til after 10.45am. I've never seen a tuesday like it and it was even busier than a lot of pre christmas days basically because of the bulk of the door to doors and the bulk of the hardback catalogues. 2 bags on a trolley on some loops was ridiculous with bulging bags and that was just mail. Imagine if everyone in our office wanted to cut off and finish ontime there would be a hell of a lot of mail left.Most of us worked over which resulted in many hours of docket combined.

Doesn't the management predict a crap day and why don't they try and ask people to start early. I really have never seen a tuesday like it.

Yep it was mad - and today was one of the quietest Wednesdays ever, its like they pushed through stuff early.

Aye it was mental on Tuesday here, booked 2+ hours, booked 2 + hours Monday and went over today too. And just as a special treat it's pissed down every day, because soul destroying daily workloads aren't s**t enough on their own seemingly.

no but we did have worn out Wednesday, had the catalogues along with Viking ( large and Small ) and others on Monday but parcels today went through the roof, looks like either we have had an influx of container ships at our dock yards or companies have gone back to work and are clearing all the orders put to them over Xmas & new year.

Loops left tues, we'd ,Yorks mail left too . Fed up of this constant savings joke , staff are knackered , knee ,back shoulder problems are commonplace now , sick absence through roof .worst it's ever been . Roll on longer deliveries,, wheelchair beckons for us allllll!

Royal Mail operates in curious ways


Yes it was busy over Xmas with packets but the attitude of managers was to bring nearly everyone in on overtime if they could. Money was no object and the result being that we massively overspent on the budget. We will probably read all about it in the courier about how we all delivered a great Xmas for our customers. But lets get back on track.

Now its the New Year and even though it is still as busy on certain days, it's back to penny pinching again.

penny pinching WHERE? 5 linos with nothing to do, 30+ guys sat at home 2 hours early on pay, 40+ others doing more lapsing so claiming hours, some can't cope so scroungers on more unnecessary overtime taking their lapsing out, paying people overtime to put catalogues in or put out next weeks d2d's to save the linos doing them. Paying coaches to cover linos work.
Get these linos working, send out the ones who come back early to help others, linos must work to save £000,000's .

We are all shareholders, get rid of linos to push up our share price.
