Test letters/ money

Post by Tank »

Had a letter 2 weeks ago and when I went to deliver it the window was slightly in view and there was a few £20 notes in view! Delivered it as normal and didn't think too much of it. A few days later my buddy on the next frame said there was a manager looking at my frame around where this letter with money was for.

Then a few days later same manager was talking to me at my frame and was looking over my shoulder in the direction of this particular house! Very strange. Then today I had a letter that's was exactly the same as the original letter same hand writing no return address etc! No money was clearly visible, but it makes me think they are test letters! What's the script do they have to do a random quota of tests or do you think some stuff has gone missing?

I feel a bit down like my integrity is being brought into question! Been with the company 18 years and never done anything dodgy in my life! Any thoughts appreciated.

after reading about the way they do test letters it is possible this is the case, or it could be nothing. So long as youre not doing anything wrong then you`ll be ok.

They may be trying to get someone else and just trying to check, in their normal skillful way, that the item has made it to your frame and that it hadn't been diverted on the way.

You know you're innocent, but is everyone in the office above suspicion, I doubt it.

managers dont send test letters unless they have been requested to by IB, test letters are generally sent by "panelists" your dom does not know who they are, the generally have a rfid tag which tracks them through the network, if a manager has been requested to send a test letter by ib it wont be cash,

what you will probably find is that something somewhere has flagged this address as doing something dodgy and manager has been asked to keep an eye on it, not you, next time you see a letter with cash to that address i would approach the manager and highlight it, just point out to him that its not the first time you have seen a letter like this and feel a little uncomfortable that the recipient seems to be getting a lot of cash through the post not sent by special delivery and you just want to cover yourself by making him aware of the situation

"A postal worker stole greetings cards and the cash and vouchers which were inside them.

A court heard the Royal Mail sent up a covert operation because of the number of cards going missing from the Mold delivery office where Shaun Williams worked.

Investigators put a number of test letters into the system and also put up secret cameras within the delivery area.

When challenged, Williams, 48, was found to have in his wallet £20 in Boots vouchers, a 20 dollar note, three £10 notes and a £5 note which had come from the cards posted by the investigators themselves. "

its all to do with evidence, ib will video themselves preparing the letters and record the serial numbers of the cash, they also wont do it alone so they have a witnesses of the items being prepared and sent, if a manager done it then who is going to back up his version of events, yes manager may send letter but it will basically just be a letter to the householder asking them to contact him or informing them he may call round later to check item was delivered but thats it

Probably trying to scam rm by saying money wasnt received when it was. Don't worry about it, be wary of them trying it on again though, def let the manager know about any scams, give him something to do!

Hopefully you are a CWU member. With any issues like this go to your rep or if you don't trust him or think he's too chummy with the guvnors go over his head to area and explain why you did that.

Usual beef at our place is about the yellow laminated test cards, used to "measure collection performance". These are normally put in boxes by collection managers, who generally don't know what they are doing eg one put a test card in a 7:30pm box before 7:30 on a Friday to check that the Saturday am collection had been done  What we do know is that they are used to check if you have emptied your boxes.

I have had money in letter boxes over the years (IB I think) and we know at Pompey that 600 drivers are being monitored by actings although there is no national agreement in place. Remember that a guvnor may be doing things he/she shouldn't be doing to spy on you. If you think this is the case you can always raise a grievance. We had a great case a few years ago when a guvnor decided to follow a 600 driver because he thought the driver was up to something. Driver quite clever, realised what was going on and called Police because he was being followed. IB knew nothing about it. As you would expect nothing stuck to the guvnor, just got moved out to another office.

Remember that if the IB think something is a criminal act guvnors won't be notified, unless they are the ones who have spotted something.

If you find money in a box, test cards etc flag it up to your rep, guvnor and anyone else who will listen ASAP. Good luck.
