stress illness

Post by dougfunny892 »

Colleague just returned to work today after stress illness caused through work. Told today to do full duty which he begrudgingly accepted. Then because they cant cover his collection making him do that because he signed up for it. Also they didn't give him a back to work assessment.

Is collegue in union? Worthwhile getting in touch with union rep if he is. I'd have thought that he should have had a back 2 work assessment with possible phased return?

Good luck to your colleage.

Firstly you have omitted the length of absence your colleague has had with work related stress over 14 days this is classed as a long term illness by RM. Secondly you have not mentioned the fit note and what boxes have been ticked by his GP if his return to work is on a phased return, adjustments of duty etc. Thirdly you have not mentioned if their has been an OH Assist intervention in his absence and if so what their recommendations were if a rehabilitation programme was advised to management by them. Did your work colleague volunteer to return to work on the insistence of management on a phased return? Basically the questionnaire on a BTW discussion is to ascertain if the employee needs assistance from the employer in being able to return to their full time duties. In this case having automatically returned your colleague to full time duties without carrying out a BTW discussion interview they have put the cart before the horse and therefore you will have to confirm what the circumstances were on colleagues return or if any of the conditions that I have mentioned at the start of this posting were applicable.

My DOM never bothered with a back
To work interview. He fully forged and documented a fictious one though. It said what I had said and what he had said etc etc.
Was he allowed to just NOT bother?
