The timescale for hearing a bullying and harassment case has changed from 35 calendar days to 30 working days.
The amendment ensures consistency and recognises the time needed to share documents, which are a core part of the approach.
The policy states: ‘Royal Mail aims for completion of the investigation within 30 working days of the receipt of the complaint, however, there will be times when this may take longer, depending on the facts of each case.’
It has been agreed with both Unite/CMA and the CWU that all dates mentioned should relate to working days. Currently most of the dates within the Bullying & Harassment Policy refer to working days, but the overall timeline is based on calendar days.
Mediation
Last year we worked with Unite/CMA and the CWU to jointly introduce mediation to the Bullying and Harassment Policy. To date, 48 cases have been successfully mediated,
Mediation is provided by accredited mediators who are impartial third parties. It can be used to deal with complex and sensitive situations. It is voluntary and completely confidential
