My unit was told yesterday that overtime is not going to be paid on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays for extended delivery.
If anybody thinks that they may go beyond their finishing time on these days, they are being instructed to make absolutely sure that their lapsing is taken and to stream enough of their own delivery to prevent over running....leaving it in the frame for delivery the following day . Orders from above the DOM, apparently.

Streaming is NOT acceptable in RM, take it all out and get the Mngt to phone you on the PDA at a given time to determine whether or not you can complete, whatever does not get delivered is on their shoulders (failure)
Just follow the over running procedure posted by me good mate Fishtank (in downloads)

I'm already aware, mainly due to this forum, that RM are in the wrong here, but thanks anyway, Glenno. My post was really to find out whether or not this "advice" is being issued elsewhere. Unfortunately, many employees do not know that management are trying to pull a fast one and a few people, for a variety of reasons, have had blazing rows with the linos over this and a couple have gone sick with stress already.
During the recent ADR briefings the subject of ‘Streaming or Skimming’ of mail was raised by a number of reps and subsequently raised by me at the NDG. Royal Mail’s response was that they were unaware of it and it was only anecdotal, they needed firmer ‘evidence’. Therefore could reps please supply the dept via email with any instances where this has occurred or is occurring, naming the office and the manager of the office and how frequently this has occurred, and how the streaming actually occurs. In some cases the decision of what not to deliver has been left to OPGs which in itself is unacceptable. In other instances it forms part of absorption/lapsing where an OPG is taken off a delivery to allow others to absorb the delivery by only delivering the 1c and leaving everything else in the frame.
Your urgent attention and response to this request would be greatly appreciated.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
It's being termed in our office as "Managing your prep"
In other words you only take out the 1st class PPI and stamped, the rest has to be taken out of the frame and left in trays under the bench.
This as far as I can see only leaves you with more work the following day, and the experienced postie will realise this and not do it.
I've been told to do it and to take out lapsing, my argument is that I decide how much over time I do, so if I go over doing my own duty, I'm going to do more overtime doing lapsing, so far I've got away with it and never take out lapsing.
It happenned in our office and it was reported to the union and presumably passed to moya somehow and it stopped ,hasnt been back since its a USO failure and not allowed
Surely all office reps where this is being attempted get in touch pronto with their area rep and fire an email off to Gibson? If not whats the point of having reps, I just don't see how Royal Mail and their managers think this is a good idea and expect to get away with it.
