Fragile

The RM website tells customers to mark their items Fragile. Do you treat such items with greater care? If the contents are fragile then the sender should wrap them appropriately. In my experience most items marked fragile are nothing of the sort which slightly encourages me to disregard the label.

we have had on a couple of occasions framed photo's with glass which have been sent only wrapped in Brown Paper!!!
no cardboard, bubble wrap etc and on both occasions that have arrived with the glass smashed.

both were special deliveries, so why are the post office etc accepting these packages that are clearly not going to make their destination in one piece.

once they get to the DO of course they are treated differently but the sorting machines etc, can't read what is said on the packages or can they!!?

The packet can say "fragile" 10 times but if it's at the bottom of a sleeve, with heavier packets on top of it, you'd better make sure it's very well packed.

Yes I generally treat them with more care.

Once ,around xmas ,someone decided to send a bottle of booze in the post. It was just wrapped in brown paper- nothing else, no 'fragile' sign, nothing. It came to me leaking. I was amazed it hadn't been smashed to pieces.

By the time they reach us for delivery they have probably been kicked from pillar to post already

Yes, I've had that but the recipient accepted it hadn't been wrapped properly so no claim.
And recently a normal doormat labelled "fragile".
