Worn out!
Would just like to know, since the Van sharing duties have been implemented and been working for a good while, who like me feels that walking for 4hrs plus 6days a week is Impacting on our health. We have several case's in our office where D.O's are worn out.Not only have we been subjected to working in the mid day sun,we have had our family time squeezed to next to nothing.Don't get me wrong, love my walk and the people i work with, but im really concerned that in the present format im not going to be able to carry on much longer its getting more like an endurance course than a delivery.P.S we need a union to bring down the walking time and give us back time to see out our retirement in full health!

Is there no way to put posters on ignore so I don't see their replies, the above poster might as well be Moya for all the propaganda in their 26 posts, not once has the poster listened to any complaint in any of their replies and does not contribute to the forum with their troll like replies?future_RM wrote:My heart bleedsmccoop wrote:Would just like to know, since the Van sharing duties have been implemented and been working for a good while, who like me feels that walking for 4hrs plus 6days a week is Impacting on our health. We have several case's in our office where D.O's are worn out.Not only have we been subjected to working in the mid day sun,we have had our family time squeezed to next to nothing.Don't get me wrong, love my walk and the people i work with, but im really concerned that in the present format im not going to be able to carry on much longer its getting more like an endurance course than a delivery.P.S we need a union to bring down the walking time and give us back time to see out our retirement in full health!![]()
You finish by what time, 3pm and this reducing your family time to next nothing?
Try working 9-5 digging up streets etc.
Think you need a reality check or find another job.

In the control panel you can put people on a Friend or Foe list, I believe you then don't see their posts when they are on the foe list.jimmynailsalive wrote:Is there no way to put posters on ignore so I don't see their replies, the above poster might as well be Moya for all the propaganda in their 26 posts, not once has the poster listened to any complaint in any of their replies and does not contribute to the forum with their troll like replies?future_RM wrote:My heart bleedsmccoop wrote:Would just like to know, since the Van sharing duties have been implemented and been working for a good while, who like me feels that walking for 4hrs plus 6days a week is Impacting on our health.

Re: Worn out!
Sympathise with your feelings Mccoop. I feel we're all feeling the strain since the new ways of working have been introduced.
IMO the removal of bikes was a big blow....... just being able to ride out,and back, to the start of your duty was better than pushing a HCT all that way. And to be able to cycle past all those houses with no mail was a definate bonus. We're now walking the entire length of the duty every day, regardless of how many deliver points actually have mail!
Do you know why nothing's done about this? Because basically the management don't have to walk those distances on a daily basis
so they don't give a s**t! I remember being told that Management were aware that if they introduced the new working methods it would take longer to deliver the same amount of mail. However non of our duties were actually made shorter to compensate!
Royal Mail are obviously turning a blind eye to the ever increasing number of injuries that are occurring. They are just storing up problems for the future, and as Older Posties fall by the wayside (we have no OPGs under 30) and they are unable to recruit enough younger posties, they will cause their own shitstorm. And good luck to them. At this time we will hear the old, "We're suffering from unprecedented delivery problems and we'd like your good will, and flexibility, to help us deal with it"!

Re: Worn out!
Yes it has become very physically demanding and can be tiring, lazy people do not work at royal mail they are found out and either leave or are sacked quite quickly. Jog on futurerm you know nothing
finish time is irrelevant much like your comments! We work longer hours than 9-5 jobs with a shorter break.

Re: Worn out!
Straight out of the Royal Mail Management Guide to motivating staff. Now how about stepping up to the mark and offering suggestions instead of putting hard working people down. You may not agree with his position but it is one that is bulding up a head of steam within deliveries, and if you in Management, and Full Time Release Reps don't realise and start to make adjustments/plans then it can only lead one way.future_RM wrote:My heart bleedsmccoop wrote:Would just like to know, since the Van sharing duties have been implemented and been working for a good while, who like me feels that walking for 4hrs plus 6days a week is Impacting on our health.

Re: Worn out!
A few of us were talking about feeling like this when we got back today.
It's unbelievable the amount of young, fit men and women who are now complaining about busted knees, feet and hips.
I can get what would be considered a decent nights sleep but still wake up feeling dreadful. Even on days off or the first few mornings of a weeks holiday are like that.
I never felt like this until park and loop was brought in.

Re: Worn out!
personally i think the way forward for full timers is to prep 2 deliveries and spend less time out on the road. At my place this would result in a span of about 3 hours which is imo ok. It would result in fewer FT positions but we are heading that way anyway. The way things are now, theses 4 to 5 hour spans for 6 days a week is causing alot of older posties problems that are costing the company money in sick time and atos costs. This is an issue that the union really need to address. i also think a further hour reduction in our working week would help maybe instead of a payrise next year, though i realise these suggestions may not be universelly popular!

Most places already have f/t posties who prep 2 duties and still have 4+ hour deliveries.
In some offices they prep 3 deliveries.
And a 3 hour delivery span would leave the p/t posties on 15 to 20 hour contracts. I'm sure they will be very happy with that.
