Good or bad job?

Simple question... So many people moan about the job. To me, it is by far the best job I have ever had and I understand people always like to moan about work, but some of the things said, I wonder why people don't go out and find something better if they think it's out there? So the question is... Do you really think it's a bad job, or are you just having a moan because it makes you feel better about certain situations?

Overall considering what "full time" staff get paid its a good job. Tough in the heat and cold but still enjoyable.

Part time I am not so sure its such a good deal.

It's a job that's still worth fighting for, and a job that's worth fighting for can't be a bad one.

Not without its problems of course and frustratingly much of the problems are not the fault of our bosses, but of our very own. The early starters, the runners, those who never take their break, those who go over their time without claiming. I don't need to go into detail. They have done more to devalue our work than the likes of Heseltine and Cable could have ever dreamed. Sadder still, is the glee the fat cats must have in seeing a work force divided and fighting among its own.

The pay and conditions look good compared to other work, and some may even suggest we're overpaid. Nonsense. I believe that not only should we be receiving a much more deserving bonus payment than the insult bonus scheme handed out recently, but that we should also get more annual leave, an extra two weeks on top of what we currently get. The work is getting more and more physically demanding and people simply need more time to recover. In terms of pay it's more a case that similar work is underpaid, rather than us being overpaid. Low-pay and state subsidy has become the norm in today's race to the bottom economy, and many have swallowed the doctrine and accepted it as the status quo. They look at us and think we've got it easy. We are simply earning closer to what they should be earning.

I enjoy it in all honesty, probably being in a remote rural DO helps as well.

Good job ruined by bullying Management determined that you carry the stress they get from above! But not their bonus!
To me the loss of bikes and pushing a heavy trolley has given me bad health (knee issues) where none existed before...

I know lots of people who have left RM in the past two and a half years, some through IHR and some who moved on to pastures new because they had had enough. I can say one thing for certain, it's nowhere near as enjoyable as it used to be.

10 years in and i still enjoy it, yes its physical but thats why they pay good money for an unskilled job.
Management are only a problem if you let them get to you, at the end of the day they are under big pressure from above and get as p****d off with it as everyone can.

Go in, do your bit, go home, simple, lifes too short to get stressed over it.

I think most people agree, the money is good for the job we do, but it could improve 50% if it wasn't for the poor management. There is no need for the bullying culture, Royal Mail need to sort it out, but this can only be done if the cwu top boys put pressure on green and co..

I think people should be a bit more specific about the management they complain about. Realistically the DOMs and Linos are told how to manage from above. They just want to make a career out of it, but the goal posts re constantly getting moved for them

I'm ok with the outside bit,it's not too bad if you work together as a team,the bit that really winds me up is how quick some people are to try and drop their fellow worker in the sh1t,we've got 2 people that struggle with their walk,so they've put these 2 jokers on it who are going to fly round it,I cannot understand the mentality of these people.
