sick of my situation.....

Post by RetroJunkie »

just wondering if its worth putting across to the union and if anything could be done?

basically i took a locker job that was advertised as fulltime, to then only be paid the full 8 hour days when in work, i work in an office that works 5 weeks of 6 days and then the 6th week you have off as in banked days off, i sorta just excepted this as id made the jump from 30hrs a week to what i thought was a fulltime job, in this time ive constantly been thrown on duties to which the other worker in the locker is either left on there own while im out and intill i get back or someone is in there due to doing a rehab programme. im basically out more than im in, and even more so due to someone being pregnant and working rite threw there pregnancy intill the very last, while i just again do a walk and then pick up the last 2 hours in the afternoon.
anyway in the last month or so, we have had another revision, not a full revision, but a revision none the less, basically i was asked if i wanted to stay in the locker, to which i agreed, yet nothing has changed and im paid purely on ovetime as and when im in work, so i dont have any proper terms and conditions once on leave or sickness anything that involves me not to be in work i loose money, ive just reached a stage where im sick of it.

just wondering as a stated that if the union could do anything, or am i just fighting a loosing battle, and managers are allowed to do what they like and just save money when they feel like?

I would say that alot of what's been said in this thread recently is relevant to you as well. Probably worth talking to your Union Rep to see if there is anything agreed locally regarding pt to full time.
