accident on duty/cut offs

My partner today broke her ankle in a fall. She had to get me to call an ambulance and i obviously stayed with her until it came to take her to hospital. We tried to call the manager during this wait but he didn't answer. Left a message on his mobile.

Before i left the office i told him i had to finish on time for a family reason but the mail seemed alright and do-able. However, now that i was left to do half of it on my own i had to take a couple of loops back.

When i got back in the office there was no one there so i just dumped it and left.

God know what he was up to. This also happened at 12.45 so surely he should still have been in the office at that time?
I have the call logs on my phone of the amount of times we called the office and his own mobile phone.

Am i going to be in a bit of bother for the bits i brought back? I don't know what else i could have done.

It's not even my duty. I feel bad for the usual guy that'll have a busier than usual Saturday now

If you csnt get hold of him, you cant get hold of him, it sounds like you made every effort to.
They seem to have a habbit of disappearing, when i got back today not a single person in the building but the doors wide open

Normally our DOM is long gone by 12:45 and never answers the phone. The office don't answer the phone after !2:30 and it is a lock out after 2:20 pm, despite lots of teams not back. Then there are the people out on their own on OT or recovery. Your partner was lucky that you were there with her. There should be someone manning the office until everyone is back safe... Health and Safety a priority in RM.. My arse.

Absolute disgrace. The manager has a duty of care to their staff and then when one of them breaks their ankle at work not only is the manager unreachable but not even at work during their own working hours! Surely this is negligence? What's the point in having a manager at all when in situations like this they're nowhere to be found. Don't even for a second let them bully you over bringing work back in this case, you did all you could do. Have a strong word with them, get your rep involved and inform area rep. Good luck.

You did what you could and worked up to your time. You have nothing to worry about and nothing to feel guilty about. I'm sure if the duty holder doesn't want to do it or doesn't have time then someone will pick it up as O/T.

She broke it by stumbling down stairs. She had just handed a packet to someone at the door misplaced her step then clattered down.
The guy who lived there freaked out. He was pretty helpful when it all calmed down though.

Well it turned out my managers wife went into labour and obviously couldn't answer the phone, haha!

The stand in manager today was cool about it all.
The usual duty holder wasn't too angry about a couple of busier loops either.

Your partner must ensure that her AOD is recorded in the accident book and this is followed up by the completion of an ERICA because an INJURY has been sustained this could effect her period of absence being counted towards any stage warnings.
