A man was punched and forced from his car by a robber at a supermarket in Birmingham.

Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward after the carjacking at the Asda store in Great Barr last month.

The 41-year-old was sat in his white BMW M3 convertible at around 6.30pm on 14 April when a man walked up to the driver’s side window.

West Midlands Police said the owner opened the door and was immediately punched in the face. The robber forced him to get out of the '12' plate car before driving off.
We want to trace anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery.

Asda is likely to have been fairly busy at this time and so plenty of people may have seen what happened.

In particular there was a man who was wearing a Royal Mail uniform, who we believe witnessed the whole crime and spoke to the victim immediately after the offender had driven off.

We urge him to come forward as he may have information that’s vital to our inquiry.

The offender is described by police as a black man, of slim build, in his early to mid 20s, with a local, Birmingham accent. He was wearing a dark, hooded top and a green high visibility short sleeved jacket over the top.
