election 2015
so what went wrong with labour then? how did we lose, was the SNP a vote changer? personally the SNP came up with no game changing new policies in my opinion, just rode on the back of independence, as the scots always see to think, they on the wrong side of decisions from Westminster, weather they are in the right remains to be seen!!!! I think independence has moved a step nearer, which will impact on the labour vote in England, did labour get it wrong on welfare? a lot of working people resent the fact some people see it as a lifestyle choice, but to change that view, you have to create better paying jobs, so people are better off in work than on welfare, the tories will not do that, they always want low paid, low skilled workforce, except in the boardrooms, we need to create the debate, that, if you pay fantastic rates of pay in the boardrooms, then you must pay good rates of pay on the shop floor!!! you cannot morally have one, without the other. I am sure, there are other points of view, these are just some of mine.

Re: election 2015
Wrong. They were not left wing enough, they were middle to right wing. Tory-lite.halfull wrote: Labour will never be in government again, way to left wing & anti british.
They had an incredibly weak leader. To class him as amateur would be kind.
Labour lost Scotland due to Millibands refusal to consider a deal with the SNP. He effectively told the Scots that their hopes and wishes would be ignored, the Scots did what the rest of the UK did and deserted them, luckily for Scotland, they had a party that would represent them and their views. In England we had a choice of the Tories, Labour or UKIP. It just goes to show just how poorly thought off Labour and UKIP are when the electorate chose the Tories.
The Liberals lost due to their ineffectiveness in coalition. They sold their soul for power and the devil came to collect.
UKIP, despite polling 4 million votes only won one seat, and that was one of their two ex-Tories. Part of UKIPs problem is the rhetoric used by their supporters. "Anti-British" and "Traitors" being just 2 examples of their intolerance of anyone whose opinion differs from theirs.
Before we start about unfair representation and how the SNP have 56 MPs and UKIP only 1, even though there were 2.5 million more votes for UKIP, remember that there are 650 seats in the UK parliament. Scotland has just under 10% of these. They also have just under 10% of the UK population.

Re: election 2015
The SNPs stance on trident was (although not new) different from all of the other parties, the Greens aside, that one single issue depresses me when peoples lives are affected by welfare cuts. As for pay rates for working people, it was the Labour government that installed the minimum wage, albeit it is too low, I would n't expect a significant increase from the Tories over the next 5 years. I hope that this is a watershed moment for the Labour party, and that the defeat turns out to be a blessing in disguise. The links to the Blair/Brown years need to be severed for the party to win back the (or win for the first time ) the likes of Halfull, I think in that respect Ed Balls losing his seat was maybe not such a bad thing. Personally I hope Chukka Umunna becomes leader, a really impressive guy. Still not too late for Dennis Skinner though !!!osgoody1970 wrote:so what went wrong with labour then? how did we lose, was the SNP a vote changer? personally the SNP came up with no game changing new policies in my opinion, just rode on the back of independence, as the scots always see to think, they on the wrong side of decisions from Westminster, weather they are in the right remains to be seen!!!! wrong, labour are as left wing as it gets! they even admit it themselves lol, look at the news!pinstripe wrote:Wrong. They were not left wing enough, they were middle to right wing. Tory-lite.halfull wrote: Labour will never be in government again, way to left wing & anti british.

ukip got about half of the votes labour got, they are a party on the rise & many people who wanted to vote ukip voted tory just to keep labour out, but as time goes on ukip's growth will force the things millions want- a vote on in or out of the toxic eu, much lower immigration to a country that cannot cope with its growing population which by all reports will continue to boom.
As ive said many times, the pendulum has fully tilted away from labour...its history & its future to a new way of thinking that is for protecting what we have left of this country, the shock victory for tory was no shock to many of us as it was to the left wing bbc, millions voted to keep labour out of government as we know what another reign of them would mean!
As nigel farage said a while ago; as ukip grow & the people realize we are the new working mans party, the party that will suffer most will be labour! He was correct & millions of us could not be happier!
All labour voters who are wondering where it all went wrong, dont! You will be wasting your time as the new generation of voters are not like my grandparents were, we are not stuck in a way of thinking that keeps us voting for one party nomatter what mess they make of the country at our expense, we will never vote labour & in 5 years time they will have lost millions more votes as the elderly labour voters pass away & young adults grow up feeling the affect of no jobs,no housing, no chance of home-ownership etc vote for ukip.

Re: election 2015
Perhaps labour and its supporters should remember who they voted to be the leader of the party in 2010. Blame yourselves for voting Ed Milliband in. Then making things worse by making Ed Balls shadow chancellor. Then leave that note at the treasury saying there's no money left. Why would people trust someone who shafted his own brother (who would've been a much better leader of the party)??

Re: election 2015
a seriously vague comment and while I am not an apologist for the Labour Party , what do you mean by " sold the British people down the river " ?halfull wrote:you lost because the last labour government sold the british peope down the river!
Labour will never be in government again, way to left wing & anti british.
the UK has endured massive increases in Inequality since the 1960's , in fact since 1960, Britain has gone from being more economically equal than Sweden to being one of the most unequal countries in the developed world.
it is interesting to note, for the millions of people comprising the poorest fifth of our population, life is much worse here than it is for the poorest fifth in virtually every other north-west European country - countries we would like to think of as our equals. In fact, the living standards of the poorest fifth of people in the UK are much closer to those of the poorest in countries like Slovenia and the Czech Republic .
I came across this :-
"The World Top Incomes Database put total incomes in the UK in 2011 (the most recent year for which records are available) at £1 trillion, so the 13% share taken by the richest 1% equates to about £130 billion per year.6 If the share captured by the 1% were the same as in the Netherlands and Denmark, it would be worth £60 billion (this would still equate to an average £240,000 annual income per household, so would hardly impoverish the rich). The £70 billion difference distributed across the remaining 99% of the UK would put an extra £2,700 in the pockets of every household."
the last rich list I saw in the Sunday Times 2015 put the richest 1% , that being only 1000 individuals , combined wealth being now over 500 billion so their increase in wealth has continued at quite some rate since 2011.
for me previous Labour Governments are complicit in this road to Inequality too , although the Tories will push it further . Inequality has massive social consequences for us all and if you seriously believe Farage and his UKIP party have any intention of reversing this then I am all ears.
