Royal Mail Top marks in corporate responsibility

We have achieved a score of 98% in the Corporate Responsibility Index (CR Index) - the Business in the Community's (BITC) annual benchmark of responsible businesses.

The CR Index is a tool which helps companies measure the progress they are making to integrate responsible business practice.

It assesses companies against a range of factors including how engaged their board and senior managers are with responsible business issues.

Our 4.5 star rating in the CR Index means that we:

Can quantify the financial value of CR activities to the business
Developed specific and measurable targets for all relevant issues, and these are in the public domain
Can demonstrate three years of performance improvement for most environmental and social impact areas.

Wellbeing

We have also been ranked as one of four companies to have achieved lead company status in BITC's Wellbeing benchmark.

The average score among participating companies was 24.2 and we achieved 51.

Important role in society

Lily Heinemann, head of CR and community investment, said: 'We're committed to carrying out our business in a responsible way. Our 4.5 star rating in the CR Index is a true testament to this and a great recognition of all the work we have been doing in our communities for many years.'
