Many householders seem to prefer them these days. You can buy them from Argos for £20


Can be quite a pain trying to put thicker catalogues/small packets in them. Quite frustrated with a few wall letterboxes that have blown open in the wind. Where on earth can you put the mail when it won't fasten shut? The letterbox on the door is sealed and the owner won't open the door to receive it??

Have been trying this address for the last week with no reply (and I strongly suspect that someone is still living there). Nearly a full bundle worth of mail that I have to keep bringing out everyday too...

Ask your dom for his advice it's what he's there for,prob be told to kill it off due to no delivery point, you can't be expected to take it out every day until someone's in.

Back in your pouch,

have you tried writing out a p739 with a message and use a couple of elastic bands to fix it to the open letter box door? That might work. If not make your manager aware and ask him when he wants you to kill it off as inaccessible(let him decide as he will be the one dealing with the resulting complaint)

You could take a small roll of Sellotape to secure the box and leave a 739 explaining that their mail will be held at the DO.

Yeah, magazines sticking half out as they won't flex into wall letterbox... or 739...

Off topic - I had a very very small packet the other day that would fit into most modern letterboxes but it wouldnt fit into this very small old letterbox... is it bad that i got pleasure from writing a 739? He/she will have to drive to DO to pick it up.."would not fit into letterbox" but its a rented multiple occupancy property so letterbox not going to be updated anytime soon Could probably reduce global warming if letterboxes were updated!

Told the line manager yesterday but he wasn't that bothered. Just said keep taking the mail out and endorsing the mail - not to kill off but to put on each letter No access and redeliver the following day. A full bundle's worth too; amazing to think how much mail accumulates.

Today, i came prepared with some sell-tape and lo and behold the friggin letter box was fixed!!

We've been told that if mail is undeliverable to kill it off as such.. ie no access etc. This was from our DOM in a team brief the other week! Also I was told this by visiting managers from other offices the other year too, when they were taking a walk around our DO. They said kill it off when you return from delivery, if you can't deliver it.

The ones with the slot on the top aren't so bad, at least you can just slide catalogues / graze boxes in them

The ones with the slot in the front are a right pain, as you can't bend a graze box to get it in! So P739 it is then!

But the graze boxes do bend a bit. They only have packets of nuts in don't they? I used to 739 them but then saw a note on a box saying to please bend their graze box. I've bent them at every silly box since and had no comeback. I'm sure it's just packets of nuts and seeds in them.

Nuts and olives and stuff at a high price. They will bend without dispensing the contents everywhere, but I wouldn't advise standing on it.
