I have gone over my shoe allowance. Soles are worn out after 8 weeks. Am walking about 6 mls p day on delivery. Dim has requested new pair twice and each time been refused. Apart from safety rep who to complain to. Rep just says refuse to go out on delivery as footwear is unsuitable

How could someone authorise it remotely and what would be the point?, the reason for local authorisation is to find out if there are genuine reasons for going over your allocation, there's absolutely no point in some manager in an admin office saying no when the system already says no and needs a reason to say yes.

I thought you had to do all your uniform ordering online.
If it tells you you have exceeded your allocation you have to explain why.
If you don't it will automatically decline your order.

In the first instance the decision to accept/decline your request is done by a uniform allocation manager and not your office.
Perhaps in some cases they will contact your office for information, but certainly our managers have no immediate influence over the decision.

Recently I "lost" my cagoule and tried to order another.
I was contacted to see if the disappearance had been reported to security. It had nothing to do with my DOM.

You order on line,then if allocation is used up there's a box to explain why and a box for your managers name. He has the right to confirm that the order is required, on this occasion on H&S grounds

Every time I've ordered something online it has told me I have exceeded my uniform quota, but I've yet to have an order declined as I usually stick something about H&S or employer's duty of care (especially if it's footwear related) in the order explanation box.
