I am through to the final interview for the role of workplace coach and there bringing someone down from world class mail at the mail centre to do the interview.any coaches on here with any advice on how to impress? There are 6 of us fighting it out for one vacancy

Hold them in the hand that is not your usual writing hand,i.e if right handed use your left or use your right if left handed That way your drawings will look even more juvenile.

The interview is fairly straightforward.
Most questions are give an example of when type of thing....
When you have managed staff
How you would try and implement changes to your office.
How can you find out how your unit is performing.

As long as you don't um and ah too much and are fairly concise with you answers (they don't want you to ramble.

I had the interview last month - there were 3 of us selected from about 10 applicants.
One was a bloke with nearly 11 years of service - but all on delivery as a non driving postie.
One was a bloke with nearly 15 years service with experience of every position in a delivery office, indoor and out.
One was a part timer with less than 2 years service.


The part timer got the position.
Apparently it was purely coincidence that the interviewer had worked with the successful applicant in the past.

We were also told at the interview that the decision on who got the vacancy was purely down to the interview and your answers. That no manager in the unit had any input in the decision.
Since learnt that that is bollocks and at the end of the day your DOM decides who gets it ( supposedly based on a recommendation from the interviewer - yeah right).

Oh and apparently you can ask for feedback on your interview if un successful - i was told my answers weren't as good and that was it.

For about 6 years in my DO the WPC has been paid to do absolutely nothing at all, ever.
I think that is going to change big time soon and the WPC will actually have to earn the £30 odd quid per week - changes are a coming.
If they want you you'll get it.

Our area WCM manager is now doing WPC training - so may be a similar thing in other areas. Her minions are now back on delivery.

Well I have my work place coach interview tomorrow. I had second thoughts on this role but fancied passing on some experience to new starters. Does seem to be a stigma attached to this position but under no illusions it will be free money.

Our WPC was our supervisor/acting manager. When the vacancy came up, he didn't tell anyone and applied for the vacancy himself and got it. Then he never told anyone he was our WPC.
It only came out during a meeting a few months back.
He has been our WPC for well over 12 months and to this day has done nothing.
So that is at least £2000 for doing absolutely nothing.
