Can someone outline the benefits of having a FTC contract. And any difference between a 3 or 6 month contract? This is a genuinely 'neutral' question - I'm curious. The only 'angle' i have is that there is still a 1 week notice involved if either side wants to end it - its not a guarantee of work. But what are the other benefits? Sick pay? Breaks paid? etc.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Whats the value of a FTC?
Fixed Term contracts no matter their length should have the same breaks and sick benefits and pay as a Permanent employee who started on the same day. They are better than a casual contract because there is no qualifying period which can be reset, and the pay is better as well.
After a year everyone not on a casual contract will have the same hourly rate of pay, sickness benefits, and we all only have to give a weeks notice - even if YOU have worked with Royal Mail/Post Office for 50 years,
