Can any one confim what the rep at my depot told us about the upcoming election . He said that if Billy Hates gets best he will get 3yrs compo which is about £300,000 . So how can he loose ? Is there some kind of fiddle being hatch hear !

A certain John Keggie got 250 000 when he lost the election alledgely in 2003 ! A certain officer who lost the indoor election got a pay out again rumour or more have it ! In my view when an officer stands for a postion or indeed a lay member it's an election and if the membership decides your out then sadly that is the result the membership should not pay redundancy on top of a good pension. I would say that whoever was up and faced a challenge or defeat.

So is it rumour or true and would he be entitled to a pay off if he is defeated particularly when he called an early election. There are precedents of course, when an MP loses their seat they get a payoff and they too are only elected and then unelected. Mind you 300,000 quid seems a lot.

Maybe Billy knows what's coming and wants to get out before the fingers start pointing and the membership dwindles to nothing, so he wants the 300,000 pieces of silver before the coffers are empty but what a choker that would be if he actually won.

That John Keggie thing is what my rep was on about . But Mr Hayes earns £100,000 so 3 yrs compo = £300,000 ! The problem my rep keeps banging on about is that you can't finf the compo rule any where in the rule book ! Is Mr Hayes a mason or something ?

No one does sufficient work to warrant a pay out equal to nearly 15 years annual pay of the people that pay his wages.

IT is annoying people with authority give themselves generous package for their job. No wonder we are struggling with taxes and cuts.

How can this be right? do we members actually have any say in any of this ? people at the top of the union buying up holidays, excessive pay offs when you effectively resign and call an election when you don't need to? mortgage fiddles. what's going on in our union? it's time to change all this. Give the union back to the members.
