lapsing at the expense of parcels
what naughty things are happening in your office. all our manager cares about now is lapsing. hes bring in every part timer early to facilitate lapsing. we have 4 full yorks of pkts sitting since monday as if we cant lapse we must not deliver large parcels. just scandalous. its all about lapsing now. its all the business cares about

Re: lapsing at the expense of parcels
ironic when we are supposed to be a parcel company now...
Don't worry about it not your problem. Email someone high up if possible and see what happens

Re: lapsing at the expense of parcels
Utterly mental. Lapsing is (or rather should be) simply a device that they should be using in order to fill all OPG's hours. Now clearly if there is a large volume of undelivered items in the office then the hours are full (otherwise these items would be delivered), and lapsing shouldn't be happening. Contact your area rep immediately and get them to put a stop to that practice.

Re: lapsing at the expense of parcels
I don't quite understand what people are upset about, when we are asked to leave parcels I usually give the packets a quick scan and match a few up with the parcels to get rid of them and anything near approaching over-sized gets chucked in as well to lighten my load
Delivering mail with little or no packets is a dawdle and if asked to do that then even if it involves lapsing would be fine by me?
Edit - should say the same for catelogues as these usually weight a ton, especially that hardback one doing the rounds at the moment!

Re: lapsing at the expense of parcels
yes thats fine if them parcels are going to be delivered that day. its not good when they are loaded into a york and shoved into the corner of the office while they sit there for almost a week. if your still fine with that then maybe you should be a manager since you dont give a s**t?jimmynailsalive wrote:I don't quite understand what people are upset about, when we are asked to leave parcels I usually give the packets a quick scan and match a few up with the parcels to get rid of them and anything near approaching over-sized gets chucked in as well to lighten my load

Re: lapsing at the expense of parcels
Lapsing is not supposed to have an adverse effect on quality of service.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If its either the mail or the parcels then I prefer to take the mail.raikky wrote:

If the office is unable to clear everything then it is understaffed and the Union should be dealing with it.
You're obviously highly strung and easily upset judging by your response to me, all I'm saying as many are saying on here, you have a start and finish time, if things bother you either work on to finish the workload by doing overtime or start and finish on time, highlight anything your not happy with to your union official and go home and relax, simple really but you seem upset at 10pm on a Friday ni9ght because parcels and whatever are accumulating. You're not paid to worry about that, highlight and move on.

would you not be upset if you ordered a packet, parcel and it lay in a d.o all week and some people wonder why customers go elsewherejimmynailsalive wrote:If its either the mail or the parcels then I prefer to take the mail.raikky wrote:

Re: lapsing at the expense of parcels
The only crazy thing is you have responded to me and totally ignored everything I highlighted.aiden01 wrote: would you not be upset if you ordered a packet, parcel and it lay in a d.o all week and some people wonder why customers go elsewhere![]()
I'll give you bullet points
. Highlight it to the Union rep.
. Ensure they document every day mail or parcels do not go out.
. Ensure they are fighting to get extra staff brought in if it is a regular occurrence.
Seems to be numerous threads about mail/parcels not getting delivered and staff can't get annual leave and yet everyone seems to be paying £100-200 annually for a union to protect their rights, don't think I'm the crazy one here?
This will me me tomorrow in the pissing rain, snow, sleet and 50mph winds happy as larry

https://www.myroyalmail.com/sites/default/files/styles/full/public/images/news/one%20bad%20apple%20MRM.jpg?itok=roN22_owAs the saying goes ‘it only takes one bad apple to ruin the whole barrel’. And it takes a very small minority of colleagues to damage the trust that our customers have in us.
That’s why we count on you, the honest majority, to report crime and any suspicions of crime to the Confidential Security Helpdesk.
A new ‘One bad apple’ security poster has recently been sent out to all Royal Mail Group operational sites.
The posters act as an important reminder that everyone working for RMG has a responsibility to protect the business and to report crime.
The Helpdesk openly welcome calls from staff reporting their suspicions, however unsure they may be. Security Helpdesk Manager Kelly Samuels says: ‘I understand that people may be concerned about reporting suspicions and that it can be very difficult when a colleague is involved.
‘We always try to put callers at ease and although all reports are treated confidentially, we never insist on taking the caller’s name and details if they’d prefer to remain anonymous.’
The Helpdesk can be contacted on 020 7239 6655, the lines are open from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and callers outside these times can leave a message or call the security duty officer for anything urgent.
Alternatively you can email securityhelpdesk@royalmail.com or send a text to 88771 with SEC and the report you wish to make.
Or justsayit@royalmail.com
‘We’re here to help, so please get in touch if you have any concerns,’ says Kelly.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
