Ex girlfriend reporting harrasment texts

My girlfriend dumped me on New years eve by text. I got drunk and sent her a few horrible texts, not too nasty,called her mild names,more harassment than abuse because she wouldnt answer me. Anyway shes text today saying shes making a log with the police. Im worried this will affect my job in the royal mail as I dont know if they tell them.
I regret the drunken texts and apologised to her but dont want to jeapodise my job.

Did you keep the texts? If so keep them on device
In the union? Try the legal advice line
Have you been charged?

If not charged yet then do the obvious,don't text your ex again,delete/block her number and or change your own.

If charged you would probably be best following the code of business standards and contacting hr/management yourself.

Stay away from Facebook etc too

No i didnt keep the texts. they werent that bad,nothing threatneing at all.Just a few drunken texts saying she needs to sort her life out. I dont know what will happen whether ill be charged or not.

doubt youd get more than a warning if its no more than 1 night drunken texts the police are unlikely to waste time on it. Seems your better off out of it if shes petty enough to report it to the police

She could just be bluffing..telling you that just to scare you off.
Agree with the other poster..the police wouldn't want to be bothered..its hard enough getting them to do anything when a real crime has been comitted.

They might send a PCSO round to have an informal chat with you like they did to me when I had a row with one of my neighbours but I could tell they weren't bothered.

If she felt threatened then it is a real crime.
We had a colleague spend the night in police cells in very similar circumstances.

I dont think it would. But why would he need to know?

We work in a proscribed occupation which means if you are convicted (or depending on offence even just charged) of an offence the police will inform rm of the conviction or charge

So in event of police becoming involved and a charge looking likely tell your dom as it's better coming from you earlier than the police later as it may look like you were hiding the matter

If the police have suggested your ex keep a log of calls / texts received I would suggest to date there is insufficient evidence to support further action.however should you provide her/ them with further evidence they may come calling.i would suggest it would be advisable for you to keep a log of any calls/texts she makes to you to,as these matters are rarely one sided..if the police do take further action they will be looking to take both parties mobiles for examination,even deleted messages can be recovered.
