Just wondering if any other offices have a tradition on this day as we are lucky and have a pub just across the road from our do so as soon as we finish delivery most of us would meet in there and have a few drinks before heading home. Fingers crossed it carrys on and we dont get screwed over on the day

We used to meet up in the café over the road for a Christmas eve fry up. Mind you that was when you were finishing well before 9am. These days people are just too knacked and want to get home.

we normally go for several pints on crimbo eve...but a few years ago we had the two worst winters I have ever known,got to the pub at 4pm...everyone was demoralised and went home after a couple.

unfortunatly this appears to be my last with royal mail i have had issues for 6 months with my knee and just got told today by oh assist that if no improvement within 4 weeks when i get referred again then they will be going down the ihr to get rid of me unfortunatly going to a mail centre is not an option as it is over 30 miles away absolutly gutted but to be honest i dont think there is any alternative as got told yesterday surgery is not an option and there is no quick fix.

But i do wish everyone a fantastic christmas and hope that things get better

Im not happy about it but I know I can't physically do the job anymore I can't use my knee properly and im only 34 but I hobble round like a little old lady. Can't take evr it looks like ihr is probably the best option for me

EVR terms for you would be less than IHR since you've only been with us a couple of years, don't be too hasty though, get some advice from a specialist about your knee and there's usually a prolonged period of (paid) sick absence before IHR...just saying.

How long have you been working for Royal Mail and what sort of walk/workload did you do as your knees is wrecked.

Hope you will make full recovery in couple of years time. See a specialist as he/she will be able to advice the best treatment.

let's say you have a unit of 80 staff.

for around £1.50 a head you could get a deal with a local bakers/snack shop to get everyone a butty and a tea waiting for the staff when you go in on Christmas eve.

I joined in august 2012 and since Jan this year i have been doing a hct round i hurt my knee while on delivery in the first week of June i didn't trip or fall it just started hurting and hasnt stopped. I was off for 2 weeks the tried to return on a rehab plan but failed after 10 days and had to go sick again and came back early October on a rehab plan again which i managed for 5 weeks before my knee started giving out again so that plan has failed and im now on 4 weeks of full 30 hours per week but only 90 minutes of delivery. Ive seen a muscularskeletal specialist who gave a steroid injection in my knee but that didn't work and i have also seen a surgeon on monday just gone who advised surgery is not an option as surgery cannot help. I am also seeing an nhs physio and have done the frp through rehab works which was a waste of time for me im also seeing a podiatrist as i have low arches on my feet too. The latest is that i am now waiting for a appointment with the specialist physio who is withthe surgical team but she has said that there is no quick fix and they cannot say when or if i will be able to use my knee correctly again and that I am likely to suffer osteoarthritis in the knee in the future. Only treatment on offer is physio and painkillers but i react badly to codeine and anything stronger. The last i was told on tuesday by oh assist is that because i have outstanding appointment with a new specialist so they wont reccommend ihr until i haveseen them. The diagnosis that i have had varies between patellofemoral pain and arterial knee pain. Didnt have physiotherapy through rm as by the time that it aas put through it was past tne cut off point for them. Sorry for the long explanation

It is ok, as more information can give us an idea what is happening to help us to prevent it happens to us. Think pushing HCT all day every day cause the damage :(
