Lent to another office for Christmas

Just a query, a bloke in our office has been lent to another office 4 miles away. His start time at our office is 9 am and his finish time is 14:30. He has been arriving at the other office at 9:30 and leaving at 14:00. The managers at the other office are now telling him he has to be at there office for 9 and he is not leaving till 14:30. This cannot be right? And is he intitled to claim his petrol? Thanks for any help or advice in advance

Petrol yes,but also check I surance .I.e single place of work.

The start and finish times are bluntly bollox

He can leave from his office at his start time and be back there for his finish.

Personally I wouldn't run up my own mileage.
Ask RM for a van

Tell him to turn up at his own office and get them to either give him a van (assuming his trained) or arrange transport there and back. I doubt his car insurance covers him for business use which is what his using it for.

Absolute rubbish from Management.

He can leave his 'home office' at his start time. And leave his 'other office' with enough time to get back and then go home.

If he is driving ; then of course he can claim his petrol.

His start point is his home office.

Its a posh way of saying your break should be included in your duty time separate to the travelling and working portions.

It depends what it says in his contract of employment.
All this "turn up at your own office and demand a van" might not be relevant.

Fair point

Must admit to being biased and not always open minded due to witnessing similar happen round our way several times.

But really check insurance,traffic police can and will charge for improper insurance.

I've only been sent to 1 other office before, it was 17 miles away. I turned up at my start time to be told i was need in Maldon. I said fine but im only work my hours then which was 4 hours a day at the time. Would normally do 6-8 depending what i was on. Anyway left my office at 10.15 and got there at 10.55, said to the lino there i was leaving at 13.30 as my finish time was 14.00 and needed 30 mins to get back to the office. He didn't put up a fight just didn't understand why i was sent for only a few hours. Left the office at 12ish with only 1st and 2nd class mail no pkts, in the end i worked to 14:00 as it seemed pointless to finish at 13:30 then drive to my office 30 mins away then home another 30 mins when i could just drive the 30mins home from Maldon.

Only thing i didn't do was claim petrol as the DOM kept messing me around with it. In the end i gave up but told my lino if i was sent to another office i either wanted petrol money upfront or to be dropped there and picked up within my 4 hour shift. Was never sent anywhere after that while others still were.
