Failed Scans

Can I get some sort of idea what's happening in your office regarding failed scans on Tracked and Specials.

We had a WTL this week and have bèen read the riot act about missed scans. There's to be no more counciling or informal word in the ear its now straight to the Conduct Code and " be under no illusion repeat offenders WILL be facing the sack" DOM said/claimed that they knew of at least 2 long termers ie 20+ years having been sacked for failing scans.

This comes under the backdrop of the Conduct Code being used for just about everthing now straight off the bat. In the last 3 months my office has issued at least 3 (that I know of!) 2 year Serious conduct code's along with quite a few Conduct Code Warnings (Inc. mine the first in nearly 15 years on the job!)

Its been mentioned in another thread that RM isnt exactly displeased about getting rid of old timers on the half decent full time contracts and final salary pensions with flexible part-timers on the cash purchase pensions.

Do other long termers that do a good job with the odd hic-up feel like they have a big 'ole target on their backs?

Yes, I think they are making things more and more strict in the hopes of getting rid of the old timers. I see there being more and more part timers, I mean with 16 hour contracts or similar, we have a few at our office. They cover Saturday and Mondays and also do all the hours thrown at them as overtime covering sickness. One person on two day contract had agreed to work three other days but wanted one day off if possible, the dom totally ignored what they asked and continued to reel off what duties he wanted them to do for the four days and the person just accepted it.....too afraid to say no in case they don't get any OT the next week. It's almost as bad as zero hour contracts in my opinion.

Be aware that if you are pulled in for a failed door step scan for the previous day....get your manager to check again 24 hours later as in some cases, its a delay in the system clearing all the items off.
