Sick note/holiday

Hi me again, my sick note runs out tomorrow and have a follow up with the GP, spoke to manager today and its pointing towards being signed off again. (Now been off for 2&1/2 weeks) My new problem is i am due to fly to new york on monday for 5 days.... Where do i stand as far as being signed off and going on my trip? Advice would be apprieciated

There are several ways to operate this and each has an advantage and disadvantage and would be dependant on what type of DOM you have.
1) If your GP extends your absence on presentation of your sick note and your medical condition inform DOM that you are on holiday for 5 days that was booked sometime previously and this holiday could be beneficial to your recuperation of your medical condition and assist in an earlier return to work than was originally planned. Still on sick absence and covered by the current medical certificate.
2) DOM may allow you to take your holiday as from Monday as your annual leave entitlement so that there would be no credit of annual leave at a later date but insist on another sick note to be commenced on your return from holiday and therefore would incur another absence in determining any formal stage warnings within the attendance procedure.
3) DOM could state if you are fit enough to go to NY then you are able to work and on your return from NY expect you to be available for your duty.

Shouldn't be a problem at all. You are off work, not off life. Just inform him you will be unavailable to keep in touch during that period as you will be away.

Just ask him to email you during that period as you will not be available by telephone. If you do not have a portable or ipad or phone with email nip into an internet cafe in New York and see if he has contacted you.

Been signed off again until 10th november, been called up to see the DOM tomorrow reguarding my trip away....

I have been off sick since 2nd September due to RTC on duty,accident was third parties fault,I was due to go away but had to postpone my trip due to the accident until October, manager was fully aware I was due to go away,but waited until my return, then had me in to attend a 28 day meeting to advise me they will be using my annual leave for that period even though I am still off sick
