So I came into work today to find a group of linos and their 'pets' huddled around a piece of paper.

Turns out this piece of paper was signed by the area and local rep stating they have been made aware of the early starters and runners and explaining how what they are doing is affecting the other employees. It made for a good read....

- upto £2500 worked for free (1hr early a day for a year)
- lack of temps being made up to perm due to the lack of work
- lapsing jobs as people are completing early
- increased stress and fatigue resulting in increased lack of attendance

A few other points too.

It's recommending ALL workers work only their hours as it is all they are contracted to. All overtime should be worked exactly as it is, over you time.


It's nice to see my subs being put into action! Albeit a piece of paper and some ink.

Clocking in machines are not the complete answer to early starters or early finishers. There are ways round every system and people who are motivated enough will always find a loophole or backdoor method.

Do you really think a bit of paper from the union will stop people coming in early when the union has been telling us not to do this for years?

Similar thing happened in our office last year and the DOM told everyone they shouldn't come in early and to take breaks - guess what virtual no-one took any notice!

something similar happened in our office on friday, a sheet was displayed near signing in sheet which showed everyones worked hours from the previous week (based on times we got back to the office), apparently i owe RM 17 minutes work, as expected none of these ''finish'' times included a break so now they owe me about 90 mins overtime to make up for the breaks i never had

I worked at a company with the clocking in system and you couldn't come into the building until it was clocking in time and it you clocked out say 5 mins early you got your pay docked you clocked in by inputting your own code. I hope this doesn't happen here

Will they clock out at 12 30pm instead on 2 30pm I don't think so therefore it will work and save Royal Mail thousands of pounds plus muppets will be going home telling their wife's "Oh i'm £80 down on this weeks wages" Bring it in sooner the better..
