Request increase in hours, does seniority apply?

I want to ask to increase my contract hours at some point in the future, because at the moment I'm working approx 60hrs a week on average, obviously the work exists, so if I ask for an increase, does seniority come into it?

it was the "duties" that were offered as full time, all leave reserve duties

i.e a 34hr posty with very long service and own duty had to it give up to get full time,
ended up with most who'd not been here 2 minutes getting them.

That's the way i have always encountered & understood how it works.
If you want to be made up to full time or increase your hours you apply for the duty available.

You should be given a contract for 39 hours and someone else employed for the other 21 hrs part time. Obviously you wouldn't earn as much but hey we all have to make sacrifices for the greater good.

the op gave me the impression that he wants to just be officially made up to full time,
he has to wait for a ft duty to be advertised which will be on seniority
just seems daft that it doesn't go on the person next in line, and keep their existing duty
the extra hour per day usually is internal work and has zero affect on whatever duty they hold

that's debatable, i get about 5/10 minutes max prepped if lucky,it was always zero up to a month ago.
