in my experience lower grade managers can issue 1 year reprimand or a 2 year serious warning. managers who have been dismissal trained can dosh out suspended dismissal or dismissal punishments. the 1st 2 should be a walk in the park if you don't transgress again. after that your on a tightrope.

As you have not given the circumstances in relation to your disciplinary hearing does your confirmation letter state " 1 year serious"
Serious warnings normally are from 2 years to 5 years on your record dependant on the degree of gross misconduct and are sometimes accompanied by a further additional penalty eg. suspension without pay 1-3 days, disciplinary transfer to another job within the managers area of authority.
Reprimands and serious warnings lies with the immediate manager unless he/she feels that the punishment is outwith his/her authority level and is passed up to a higher level of authority for a decision.
So someone with a serious warning of 2 years on their record has been given that time to clear their record but you are being given 1 year to clear your record.

How do "warnings" fit into this?

Do 2 warnings = a serious? can warnings even convert into a dismissal?

Have had these flying around the office like the DIM's getting bonus payments for them! :(
