Pre-Authorising Overtime

We are supposed to tell the manager if we are going to go past our finish time and by how much.
My problem is someone who says he will go over by "xx" minutes walks out of the office without a problem, but someone who says he will be over by the same amount but doesn't want/can't do the overtime is threatened.
Or, as another example, how can the same person say they will be over one day but the next day when they'll be over but don't want O/T be threatened?
I already know the answer, but why are these two exact same circumstances treated differently?

He can say he will be xx but does he get paid it I doubt it he says he does because he has not the balls you have stick to your guns fella you are not alone in this fight.

anyone that doesn't want to work over I strongly suggest you put it in writing to the dom

BUT you have to state that you are willing to stay to your time everyday and you have to actually do it

come in on time, take your breaks and work properly - how RM say they want you to

It is tough and you will get s**t/watched/harassed everyday but ultimately if you stick to this they cannot touch you

go in do your job properly and be lily white every day and work all your hours but only your hours

put it in writing ? why ? the working hours are in writing aka our contracts

im not saying youre wrong and it may make life easier. But I think its absurd that we should have to put that in writing when we have set contracted hours.

It's absurd that you have to go through hoops to get overtime, and absurd that you have to grovel, explain and abused when you don't want to work overtime.

Even when you have worked it trying to get the payment is another problem as I am finding out
