what a terrible job im in now,just had our start times put back,i looked at signing on sheet this morning and a good 80 % of staff came in at least 20 mins before there start time,why are there so many mugs,if everyone stuck together started on time did the job properly no shortcuts and finished to there time,our office start times would go back to normal,why cant offices start earlier get the mail delivered to our customers earlier,everyones happy.we are 2 years into our revision,the less said the better,but this final £200 is still to be paid,were promised last week then this week but found out this morning ther is a minor glich,what a joke,mmmmm the doms seem to get there bonus payments,oh yes we have summer lapsing starting next week that's great when im not done on time as it is

It would be great to have earlier start times again.. the workers want it... the managers want it..the customers want it..the problem lies with some faceless tw*t somewhere in an office who wouldn't know common sense..if...........As for people coming in early and rushing around..somat needs to be done here.. Do we have a union at Royal Mail?? If we do maybe they could do somat...

Sad to say but this subject is cropping up more and more lately. It's been covered in a few other threads too, and why these people persist in doing this beggars belief really. They are not really helping themselves, let alone covering themselves in glory either. Management must be laughing at those who do this work for essentially nothing.

Why would RM want us to come in early officially when pr*tts come in early for nothing saving RM thousands

With cuts in staffing at MCs if anything DOs will probably start to open even later, as there wouldn't be enough work sent out early enough (I doubt it'll be very long before RM try and do away with any runs from MCs to DOs before 06:00 to save paying drivers night rate

In our DO since resourcing to demand and utilisation I have been getting out on delivery later by about 15mins, so where does this idea make your unit more efficient just means I cannot lapse and we are going through another revision so I expect more efficiency from everyone but I still don't start before my time and finish on time

The reason why start times won't go back is because RM wants all its posties to be part time. The start and finish times are aimed at parents that need to do the school run. Most of the new recruits at my DO fit the bill perfectly. This jobs great for those guys. Not for people like me that want full time work. It sucks really but eventually it will come back and bite them in the arse when they have DO's full of people that won't work O/T or extend on busy days

We're undergoing a change in our office, again! A resign this time. The change that they want is in the form of questions that they're asking on forms given to us to fill out, no names needed on them so it's anonymous.

The questions are:
Will you be interested in changing your work pattern? Working a five day week and then have a long weekend every six weeks - the current method - or would you be interested in working six weeks on and then have a week off?

The next question:
Would you be interested in working overtime? Yes/No
[There was nothing about what hours or let alone what days you'd work, Sundays for example, as that's being "trialled" by RM in some offices at present. We think that this is what they are looking at.]

The other question:
Would you be interested in a change to your hours and work pattern?
[said to be part time but this rumour is yet to be confirmed]

I'm fine with the resign.
A five day week and a long weekend off every six weeks is ok for me - and lots of others in the office - No doubt there will be those who want the week off.

I thought most offices now had to start at there time ,and whys this not nationally?
